But no, I work for possibly the laziest employers ever. Get this...when they didn't meet their enrollment quota last semester...they blamed us, the STUDENT WORKERS. All we do is answer phones and do paperwork, yet it was OUR fault.
I'd quit this job in a second if I had somewhere to go.

were you shown a schedule prior to said date saying that you were working?
if yes then your fucked
if no, tell your boss that as you were not scheduled for that date, and as no one tried to contact you asking you to arrive for said shift, they were at fault.
(and if there is no schedule, well they are supposed to provide you with one. Unless your working an emergancy/on-call job)
