If you wanted to move on from EIRR to a new RTS game, which one would it be?
It should be kind of casual but competitive if you want to.
Definitely some kind of persistancy with veterancy and other e-penis gains.
Some kind of vet-hunt factor.
Some kinda immersion into a bigger fictive conflict.
Should have minimum grind, but some grind is accetable. It should not be about camping item drops and "mobs" like a lot of MMORPGs are.
Should have different stuff like different builds and doctrines etc to explore, replayability.
A historic background is never bad, but I can see how this is limiting.
Maybe next game could be a futuristic setting.
Perhaps not a too big game, something a bit newer than coh with a lot of modding community.

I don't really know of any RTS that is similar to EIR in its scope.

I simply couldnt, CoH makes EIRR, and how many WWII RTS are done the way CoH is? None that i know of, closest would be MoW, I haven't played it, but from what I know is it's far too detailed to be well compared.
The closest thing to EIRR would be Leos commanders mod which I love. But it of course is more casual, but it's great because I can play vs bots =D (great when you have no internet) and EIRR has that persistency we all love.

Yeah, but is it really fulfulling its scope? I feel EIRR is starting to fail to deliver.
Veterancy is not very powerful compared to the grinded doctrine bonuses. persistancy is vet, the doctrine bonuses are final and not based around player skill or what happens ingame to any signifcant degree
And the big elephant in the room, first time I write it on the forums, EIRRMOD taking 1 year to make what is essentially a glorified browser game with no relation to the ingame COH game at all. It's not skill based, just spam games based, and the details of what happens ingame is completely lost on the warmap. Combat on the warmap is even decided by random chance!
Still no attack & defend, still no news section, lame changes like the pool and cache being attempted. You can't be a driving factor behind the war anymore, reducing those last 17-20 territories used to be epic fun.
I think you guys are giving EIRR a lot of credit, I used too as well, but it's COH itself which is deeply enjoable, its the making a company through a battle file and then using these finite units against each other which is actually super fun.

It's a bit harsh to judge the warmap by its first iteration that was presented to you, when you know that in later phases the interlinking between the warmap and coh will be greatly increased.
Your concerns are valid, but they're something that has long been taken care of in the planning.
Also, I agree A/D needs to come back pronto, and AFAIK it's a top priority. (EIRRmod also said you will be able to 'weigh' in more on the actual outcome of a battle over a given sector, and the warmap will determine gamemode)
The launcher part is and has always been a one man operation, as long as that doesn't change, the only thing we can be is patient.

Who cares about what has been taken care of in planning? I can plan to have hookers and rail cocaine, but it's just another wet dream until I actually do it.
The one man operation is reason enough to be annoyed (after so long time at least) because other groups have approached EIRR asking for the source code, yet the one man that receives so much support (and hate too) won't share it but neither can he meet the pretty meager expetactions :/ how can you think that's cool?
is this what FLdash would have wanted?

Well, you're more than welcome to step up and actually do something. AFAIK the only person really that deserves any credit for getting us to the warmap any faster, other than eirrmod himself, is tank.

thats not what i meant, i feel guilty about ripping on eirrmod so i'll leave it at that.
any other suggestions for replacing eirr? perhaps only temporarily (like 10 years while soviet union EIRR plan to add attack and defense is effectualized)

The largest problem in regards to A/D being broken btw, and call-in timers and other SCAR stuff is that eirrmod is also our scar coder. He didn't want to do any SCAR work since he had his hands full with launcher stuff, so we really could use a dedicated SCAR coder.

There is nothing ATM to replace EiR:R other than a new DoW II mod, which would be cool, but I think isn't worth the work.
No other game has retreat mechanics well built but has the level of micro in like CoH and DoW.
MoW is far too realistic to have a proper mechanic built in, and is proboly much much harder to work on in the first place.
Shogun II, is far different in how you micro but it could possibly work with changes to it. But I dont see how that would be easy at all to code in a battlefile, and probably isn't worth the work.
EiR is still unique at the moment. Nothing can come close to providing the same quality and quantity of micro with capabilities of a persistent company.

Replace EIRR? It fills the single largest desire in my gaming interests.
It's the only RTS I play more than a couple times in a row without growing bored of.
Of course I would like a couple things different but here there is a chance of them happening,
the next best RTS? If it isn't how you like it there isn't any chance it'll get that way.

the big problem with eirr currently is it seems all efforts should be taken off the warmap and they should focus all efforts and getting doctrines fixed, and timers working, and all that good stuff.
but im sure if you were in eirrmods shoes you'd get sick of working on all that and prefer to focus on warmap just for a different change of pace.
