How to deal with Gypsies?

I work a retail job in pacific northwest USA and gypsies are coming into the store. They are loud, rude, obnoxious, try to rip cashiers off, thieving. They look the same (ugly) even if they are from different families because they are from the same gene pool. I must be firm and always remember company policy when dealing with these people.

Have you had experiences with Gypsies before? Were they positive or negative?

WTF, I've dealt with such a large variety of people working different retail and living in quite a few places in the US, but never have I dealt with a gypsie, I thought that was more of a european problem.

There are things I want to say, but there's no way for me to say them with out being super racist, but I'll try.

Sounds about the same as dealing with low income urban black people, from what I've dealt with working in a liquor store, these are the people that usually come in being as you said, loud, rude, and obnoxious, sometimes trying to pull a scam or get something free or discounted or what ever.

The main thing is to not take crap from them, try to be witty and laid back, if they sense that you aren't uptight they will usually ease up on you. If they ask for some kind of discount or try to rip you off, let them know you wont let them pull one over you, but do it in a friendly manner.

My old co-worker was magical, for example if someone says something like, "The manager said I could get 10% off on this." just try to be witty, and say, "What I don't even get a 10% off on that, I would if I could, but I can't do that man."

That sounds a lot better than being straight laced and saying something like, "I'm sorry sir, but I am unable to do that."

Once again I don't mean to sound racist, but if you work in any kind of job where you deal with loads of people, it's impossible to not lump them together in different categories.

Here in Finland they are practically frowned at and people simply keep an eye on them and simply say straight to the face. "I'm unable to do that".

Thank god Finnish markets are more ruder and less friendly. In some cases it is actually more helpful then. Not a big wide fake smile but a cold frown.

my advice:
dont ignore them, keep em always in LOS so they know u know, they are strong only in groups (3 or more). they are good w/ small knives (take care).
they have to main attack vectors, they try to be friendly through kids to take your alert away then adults steal.
Or ather common tactic is to try to ge you overreacted so they can start royal rumble...

i think they are only started to examine america and your habits though so they will not risk gunfire, be prepared

Fuck we seem to get them all the time down here in Hampshire, all they do is take over land which is not there's; parks private property etc refuse to give it back for 3 weeks or so, and proceed to terrorize local people and damage local property . I hate them because of this, if I'd seen anything but this from them i might have a different opinion but so far that's all i hear/see from and about them
