Generally speaking / not always, News found on television is more likely to be more accurate. It is under a little better controls and public scrutiny then the bullshit on the Internet.

Fox and BBC are completely fucked......

I find typically the smaller local news channels carry more accurate news.

You watch leaked videos that show the truth.

No, cause those are usually clips that are edited to show what the person wants you to see, case in point, the video of the Police spraying students at UC Davis with pepper spray. In the "leaked" vid it shows the officer just spraying them. In the full 15min clip it shows how he asks them to move out the way so the police can take the people that have been arrested, the students refusing, him asking them and warning them about 10 times, and finally once he has made it clear they will be sprayed by telling each individual student straight up, he sprays them.

Watch/read every source you can, then form your own opinion from ALL the available information.

So you say no, because there is a short clip, and then you say there is also a 15min clip which shows more. So my statement remains true.

But not every "leaked" video shows anything near the truth.

It does show what happened. Ofcourse it doesn't show everything, thats what you need to keep in mind Wink

Since when is the BBC even as remotely biased as FOX, lol. MSNBC/CNN, maybe, but the BBC (& BBC world in particular) has a very strong reputation in bringing unbiased news. You know America has gone down the shitter when rightwing propaganda has succeeded in branding even the finest of unbiased news as 'liberal'.

That's the really disgusting thing imo, I wouldn't even consider CNN or MSNBC all that biased. Yet right win conservatives in the US have succeeded in making it look as if there are two biased sides, when in reality there's only proper news and FOX news.

lol too right. Fox news is so insanely bias its comical and somehow its the most watched news channel. It just goes to show you, the people want to hear what thrills them, more than the truth.

Not only is it stuffed with so much bias that they are prone to explode from it. most of what goes on in that channel isn't even news!

The history channel and MTV comes to mind...

I would also like to add I watch fox news everyday all day and will continue to watch it while being proud of that fact. I'm sure you enjoy your communist news network just as much.

My problem with the major news stations is that if you go far enough, they are all eventually owned by the same 2-3 corporate interests.

On the more important issues, the hosts and the shows take their marching orders straight from a single source. I have stumbled over quite a few youtube videos of news hosts from a dozen or maybe 2 dozen stations regurgitating the same talking point, the exact same words.

It took a big of digging but I found such a clip. Its from a youtube series called "The Greatest Truth Never Told" and is a great watch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7z_hd7k9zo&feature=BFa&list=PLD31E34390C5017E8&lf=autoplay

This section in particular is on "indoctrination" and if you want to skip to the talking point part, its from 6:00 to 7:30. I recommend the full series from the start if you got an hour to kill. You watch that and then tell me that corporate media doesn't have an agenda.

If they all say the same thing, how can you expect the source to be objective? To be the truth? Its not just FOX news, its all of them.

And yes. I just seriously linked to Cracked as empirical evidence. Deal with it Tongue.

Oh and once you're alerted to this trickery BS, you start seeing it everywhere.

There are great sources of news out there. The Economist, The Atlantic, New York Times, Washington Post.. In general all the ones that aren't on cable.

problem is,regular Jon Doe isnt. He comes home after hard day work, sits in front of telly and blindly believes all that crap, because it's on the news,so that automatically means it's true.

Internet is still place where you can get alot of information more or less 'true',in a awy that it's more likely that you will  find something that is actually true if you do a bit of searching online, then if you sit and watch news on tv. And ofcourse 'they' know it,and 'they' dont like it,and in future you will see more attempts to control internet. For example, look in China, there if you google have there been any protests,it comes empty Wink . Those bills like SOPA;BIPA;ACTA(I still hope this shit doesnt pass but how it looks it will) there will be more of them.

Fox news is on a whole different level.

If every single news outlet in the entire world were given a number 1-10 depending on how much bullshit they broadcast then fox news would be a 20.

Why? According to whom? How do you back up a claim like that? You see, the main problem I have with the people that scream Fox is worse than CNN is because they are all predisposed to hate Fox for its obvious right-wing slant. It's been shouted and screamed so many times that people believe it just because others say it. To add to the irony, most people who hate Fox more than other major news outlets don't even regularly watch Fox. They're just parroting what everyone else says.

The reason The Atlantic and The Economist are superior to CNN and Fox is because they aren't afraid to express their point of view. They're able to distinguish opinion from fact, and will openly state an opinion but admit it is just an opinion.

Now, both Fox and CNN think they're "super balanced", but what distinguishes the two is that Fox doesn't even bother being balanced and is blatantly and obviously right-wing and everyone knows it. They will blatantly state bullshit as fact with no constraints. CNN takes the more nuanced approach and tries to hide their political slant in tricky ways.

Which is better? Being nuanced with your bullshit or blatant? Well, neither are good, but I'd take the blatant over the nuanced any day. It is precisely because CNN is more tricky and nuanced with its bullshit that so many people think it's more objective than Fox, but pretent-objectivism isn't real objectivism. It's just more convincing bullshit. When I read Fox I can see and article and think "Yeah, that's nonsense." When I read CNN, I have to be spotting and searching for all the sleazy and hidden implications they're supercharging their articles with.

So, whenever I hear the "Fox news is worse than CNN!" line, I interpret it as someone saying "I like my news to at least pretend to be objective!"

Bottom line: Fox explicitly states bullshit. CNN and other news outlets heavily imply their bullshit.

Watch Outfoxed.

Foxnews have plenty of shows that's not even news and the things they say in them is just unbelievably fucked up. Glenn Beck, Bill O'Rlly comes to mind but they arent the only ones. Then there's all the outright 100% complete LIES they include in their so called new and finally a great deal of what they try to pass off as news really isn't.
