It does work but you need to use some software to get it working. Look on the DayZ forums for how to do it. But you still need Operation Arrowhead.

The installer for Dayz. point to the directory of operation arrowhead then smile

then create shortcut to arrowhead on your desktop. open it

when menu comes up click on expansions, hopefully Dayz is on that list. click it, enable it, and click the up button until it is at the top of the list, then press okay (or something) and it will say it needs to restart to take effect. Do so.

Now you can play DayZ mod, just run your shortcut again and go to multiplayer

Lol I just spawned, killed 3 guys around me in 5 min or so, really hectic. People were all around me for some reason, in the hill above elektro. I got shot, died, but respawned next to my corps luckily, friend bandaged me. My kit was there twice, was nice. He took all my shit so we both had excellent gear. Then while doing this we both got gunned down, omfg. Dead, everything gone. I hurry back to respawn near elektro. I found my old kit, and took it. Unfortunately my stats were gone cause I died. I was getting kinda proud of them lol. 25 murders and 15 bandits!
