I couldn't think of the name so I just said the closest thing.

Still, that thing would be reaaaall slow, toss a sticky, and it's a crawl and just lulz as you fire all ur atgs at it and you watch 'em ping off.

i dont even think you could destroy that thing, just cap around it and hope to god it doesn't fire at you.

thing drives on bloody railway, and it's a siege gun,so why sticky it? Even if it was made in Eirr, which would be impossible, cuz it drives on RAILWAY,it's purpose would be ARTY!

Why am I even trying to explain it to Tym...

1. I didn't know what that is, no one puts a name to it.
2. I see no rails.
3. It looks like it has tracks but they're taken off since I see no rails.

Here's my prediction.

The corsix as it stands didn't seem to have any separated armor or chasis for M3 Lee.

It will carry a Sherman armor, possibly even similar health.

Its primary weaponry will consist of 75mm Sherman gun and a M8 Greyhound gun. It will be a strong unit for all I can say if it indeed does carry a Sherman armor and health.

sticky grenade > maus

U kidding right? Stickies can barely penetrate a Tiger. What makes you think they can penetrate something with ten times more armor?

It should be a decent infantry support tank given it's armament however the thing really shouldn't have Sherman armor or mobility.  One of the reasons why it was replaced by the Sherman was it's notoriously bad off-road speed and it's armor wasn't great either, definitely weaker than the late war model Shermans.

The fact that the CoH engine doesn't account for ammunition, historical weapon ranges/penetration, means that having dual guns will make it inherently strong vs vehicles that have armor P4 armor or lower as tacking on an M8 gun will be pretty much a flat dps increase (and a gun that should be able to pen most of the Axis LVs that can circle past the chassis mounted 75mm).  But given the complaints some players have put in the past about un-upgunned Shermans, I don't see how a M3 Lee that will be stuck with 2 mediocre penning weapons will be useful especially if EiRR models it's true mobility problems.

I could of swore that the top mounted gun was for AT duty and the hull mounted gun was pretty much explicitly for HE rounds and bunker/fortification busting tbh.

Then again, I could see this thing being an Allied IST for how much AI power it'll put out.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

Nah the mounted gun is the same 75mm they mounted on M4 Shermans later on.  I hate to quote wiki but:

The M3 differed slightly from this pattern having a main gun which could fire an armor-piercing projectile at a velocity high enough for efficiently piercing armor, as well as deliver a high-explosive shell that was large enough to be effective. Using a hull mounted gun, the M3 design was produced quicker than if a turret mounted gun design had been manufactured. It was understood that the M3 design was flawed, but Britain[4] urgently needed tanks.

Basically, imo, it was an obsolete design that was originally designed around the 37mm AT gun given that pre-war expectations deemed 37mm adequate for AT duty.  However WW2 showed that 75mm or higher AT guns were required to deal with the new generation of armor, so they settled on an hull-mounted solution to get AT capable tanks in the hands of the Brits and Russians instead of taking longer and designing a proper turret for the 75mm.  Then they dropped M3 all together because the M4 was a better design.

In turn, unless you think the M8 greyhound gun is great at killing infantry I don't see how this why this thing should any better than a regular Sherman at AI.

It has two guns?

It looks like it will basically be a stuart/sherman/stug hybrid.

Stuart - 37mm gun
Sherman - 75mm gun
Stug - No turret.

I guess you would make the 75mm the main weapon and 37mm the "coaxial."

It'll be funny to see one on the field, it can't run away, it should slow down in cover, has no armor, no turret.

but infantry watch out!

If they make a historical m3 it's going to be as useful as a lead parachute.

Tym the 37mm is in the main turret.  It was the gun the tank was designed around in the pre-war period.  It would have taken a redesign to fit the 75mm in there so they just decided to mount it in a sponson on the hull.

Well the term sponson is supposed to specifically refer to hull protrusions on watercraft(boats, Ships, Seaplanes)

Though the definition now includes gun turrets and armour areas on land vehicles. Usually anything that protrudes from or above(or below) the main hull.
