A good way to get there is with a stealth ship, and to get shields on it. All you need then is a way to reliably take 4 shields down, and a Pike (stealth will save you from rockets better than drones). Can defeat the first boss fight with only a large a heavy and a pike, though it fails at the second. Two large and a Pike would be Perfect. You only have to get their shields down once, and then they are just going to die as the pike will damage many systems, and they will keep going down in amount of shields. You can also negate their ultimates with stealth.
You can beat it on normal with very few stuff actually.
Yeah, I do that. THE stealth ship is the hard one  The reason I havent gotten to end sector yet, is because I havent yet RUN on normal |

The game is good. I do 1 or two play thoughts every few days when I'm home.
It's not bad for what is involved. I usually want more from my games like more dynamic combat and map stuff. But I still think FTL is a great game.
If someone did a mod where you could free travel forwards and backwards I'd probably like it a lot.
The stealth ship is my favorite. The mantis ship is also super sexy with its 4 man teleporter and med bay.

God this game can be infuriating.
I've unlocked every ship bar the crystal cruiser and the federation cruiser.
And still haven't finished the game.
The crystal cruiser is nigh impossible to unlock.

Federation Cruiser was the second ship I unlocked. First one was the Engineer ship.
First playthrough on the Federation Cruiser I ended up with 3-4 of the triple lasers. Took down most targets with overwhelming fire.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.
