Yeah I caught that too.

It concerns me.

Hopefully it's just cosmetic shit or the XP boosts are tied to account progression

kind of saddens me that they already know what they will give for having people pay more money before they have a release date set.

question is do you prepurchase now and pay $60 or wait 2-3 years for it to go down to $10 for all the expansion packs  Cheesy

Well things be changing, business models are adapting to a new economic climate. A lot of developers are seeing the potential in the free to play model. Personally, I dont think the old method of development works for business anymore. At the $60 price point, people are expecting more and more content which has the result of increase the cost of each production cycle.

I wood rather developers produce less content for a $20-30 price point so the core gameplay becomes the main feature. You would get a better idea whether players liked your game and could produce episodic content from there.

Has anyone been keeping an eye on what THQ has been trying to do with the company? Might be something worth looking into.

I hope to god it isnt that company of heroes online hero level up stuff,

I dont want to be reminded of elite engineers, close combat volks grenadiers, and the dreaded panzershreck pioneer.

The warmap is like Dukenukem Forever.

No one thinks it will ever be released, then several years after everyone has given up the little hope they have it gets released from out of nowhere. And then it turns out it sucks.

In all honesty, CoHO kept me playing for longer than vCOH did, for a lot of the same reasons EiRR has done the same... So not that upset about it.

i don't mind paying for content, but unit boost is dreadfully close to pay to win, and that does concern me greatly.

Not exactly, unit boost is one of the positive things in a way as far as microtransactions go...

Pay to level up faster (Ok)
Pay so you hit harder (Bad)
Pay for a chance at better loot? (Ok... Sorta)
Pay for extra health/armor (Baaaad)

Basically, if you can get it via normal playing, it's fine, or, paying for shortcuts is fine.

Unit boosts, I'm 95% sure they mean...

XP Boost - Company/Player leveling speed boost or XXX starting XP
Unit Boost - Unit level speed boost/extra start units/extra uses on units going by how CoHO worked

If I'm wrong and it will actually boost unit performance above grindable levels? Whomever is responsible for this working in Relic/THQ can go jump in a deep well, and I wish I was kidding. The last thing a game like CoH needs is "Premium Shells"

I played maybe 2-3 games of vcoh online and several coho games online, much more enjoyable experience so if they're adapting that into CoH2, yummy.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

I'm quite glad that they're fleshing out the online component in CoH2, but the microtransactions could be problematic. I too would like to know what exactly "unit boost" means.

I think having any advantage based on what you pay is a bunch of bullshit. The game should be based on skill, not the size of your cheque book.

This is coming from a guy who can buy it all.

I agree but there's a lot of rich kids out there that have had things go their way their whole life.

I think a horde mode might be fun.

I smell that this will look like dawn of war 2 retribution all over again. You will pay to get to play different or unique Companies. If they decide to add Finland in it, my checkbook will be open.

Either way, I fear that it'll be pay to win.

I kinda want those two hats in TF2.

Well the THQ community representative at the official forums assured everyone that the bonuses would all be purely cosmetic, so that's somewhat of a relief.
