I think we had a thread on it? And yes, FC3 is pretty damned good, better than the previous ones at the very least.

It's a dumbed down console port. Weapons don't have recoil, you never run out of ammo, the game lacks difficulty, sandbox and exploring is pointless, the story is awful, the story mode or main quest is extremely linear and filled with cutscenes and other console-esque crap like push A+B to win the fight to limit your freedom and fun.

Why are you following a story with set narrative if you want freedom. Juzt play in tge sandbox instead.

Because the sandbox gets boring real quick, it barely has any content and it's too easy, you can heal yourself unlimited times, you never run out of ammo, the AI is stupid and offer no challenge, the crafting and perk system is stupid not to mention illogical and undeveloped. It's basically: go here, kill boars, build a sword out of their skin and that's Far Cry 3 for you.

TIG, no wonder that you're messed up if you grew up on games that every other average kid played if they had the chance, congratulations!  Roll Eyes

Also, mechanically FC2 had issues and the pacing was complete balls iirc. It had interesting ideas but it stumbled and smashed it's face in along the way.

I have all 3, never really got thru the first one cuz i hated the controls

Have the second one, which I played and beat but didn't really "enjoy" it because of the pacing and how constrained you were and all the back n forth.

Far Cry 3 though I'm having a lot of fun with because of the controls, how beautiful it is, the wing suit, hang gliders, animals, hunting, crafting, the weapons.

Yeah it's not "realistic" and "illogical" but who gives a damn, if it's fun its fun and it's damn fun to sneak up on a group of guys, stab one thru the back, take out the guy to the left of him, push him down while setting off his grenade, throwing a knife, killing one guy then taking out the rest with your weapon, or killing one, taking his pistol and taking out the group, or freeing an animal to kill half the base while you pick off the rest with your sniper rifle (silenced .50 cal, lulz, unrealistic but who cares)

There are tiems yes where I'm like "this  makes no sense" but it's a GAME and its not meant to be realistic. You come to hate Vaas (and get sick of being captured and wonder "why doesn't he just shoot me") the storyline between him and his friends, then going after Vaas's boss, and other things.

It's way more open than the first two, even if the story is linear. All 3 of far cry's stories are linear ffs.

Oh and how many games have you played recently where you run the risk of running out of ammo lmao. early on i ran out of ammo at times but later on when i'm a complete badass, you gotta be dumb to run out of ammo, that's the nature of FPS these days. Hell, even in America's Army you dont run out of ammo.

Anyway, growing up on shooters is not as uncommon as you think, hell, look how many kiddies are playing CoD these days. If some kid heard about "Hey, there's this game with blood in it and stuff!" everyone would be all over it even back then, hell, any time really.

Now, it takes a special kind of 10 year old to grow up playing TA and GC...

Oh, GC = Ground Control, that game was the shit.

On my first run through of Dead Space 3 I played it on Impossible (Thanks to games these days I have to play them on the hardest difficulty out of the box) and found myself genuinely running out of ammo at points. I actually had to buck it up and run once or twice in areas that didn't specifically call for it.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.

X-com Terror from the Deep and UFO Defense rank up there in my mind.

The 'good' Company marine. Those guys were pretty badass in a sense with their special weapon. Always nice to have them in. GC had everything GC2 lacked.

And then, under ubisoft, the mighty creators of both that and World in Conflict (Both being in the best RTS games ever made, with WiC likely having the best RTS story ever)... man, it's so sad, they've been reduced to making content for AC and Farcry 3, lol... sidekicks.

Also, wasn't x-com for me, my turn based game was more obscure than that... I first played this when I was 6!

You know what? Fuck Ubisoft for what they've done to Massive, hell, I even liked GCII.

Edit, Okay, maybe not "the best" but as far as I can recall, certainly the best executed. And for all the credit that was given to MW for "The nuke", well, I think WiC did that much better. And a month or two before Smiley

yeah, i remember when I got GC and GCII for free on a system that is no defunct...i wonder if all my games are still available, probably not Sad probably should've downloaded them all, oh well.

but yeah, ground control was great but at the same time it was just C&C in 3D, just spam but it was still fun and interesting, GCII had more tactics to it imo. I just remember it being tougher for me.

Anybody play the Riddick games? Those were so much fun, i'm going to have to boot 'em up again.

What fucking game did you play!? Hell, for GCI you couldn't even call reinforcements like you could in GCII.

Fuck, in GCI your troop status was saved from mission to mission and I hated it when I lost a veteran crew, hell, you even setup their equipment and battle style (Defensive, Offensive, Mobile and Balanced, it would modify their stats a little) prior to going into battle and you could choose the special equipment to! Fuck, if you played on hard I remember repair vehicles being the only think getting you trough tougher missions.

Hell, in GCII you could always call more cannonfodder to the fight and it didn't really have any of what I said above so I'm a little confused by what you said to say the least.

using Alec Baldwin to narrate WIC was a touch of genius. That game was a whole bunch of inspired, but the level of tired soldier that man projected into his narration sold the story.

Yup, he made it, well, emotional. Probably the only RTS game that ever made me really care, unlike certain other popular series. And no, Kane does not count, lol.

And hell, in GCI while you had access to up to 3 drop-ships in the latter missions, they only carried 4 units per dropship and some missions only allowed staggered drops so you couldn't land all of your force in one go... Meaning, dropship loadout actually became vital and listening to the mission briefings was pretty damned important to.

Fuck man, Ubisoft can go fuck themselves and fuck activation to for wanting to get rid of them in the first place.

Anyway, Tig I can guarantee that the reason why you are messed up isn't videogames. But it's ok to be weird so don't sweat it =)

Demon posession is real and it's not funny, it's the creepiest thing you will ever experience.

I would also like to add I watch fox news everyday all day and will continue to watch it while being proud of that fact. I'm sure you enjoy your communist news network just as much.

GC1 was great cos you were given a very limited amount of units in campaign.

GC2 was just spam whatever and hope it works. I think you got it the wrong way round Tym.

well, i got it backwards then. It's been a while since i played both, went thru the campaign once and then my computer flamed out and lost everything.
