I don't know, I've been around since the beginning and I've never seen it this dead...

Then again, the mod/game is 7 years old, our community is pretty hostile to newcomers, the mod isn't easy to get into and there's less and less people picking up or sticking with COH 1 so it's all no surprise.

it needs reviving. Something, unlockade of pool, introducing of something new. All of those heeeelp, but we do need a bigger marketing to hoard more players. Freshies that is and to keep them.

I have a wish, if we talk about what needs EIRR.
My grandfather was a Panzergrenadier and he told me that they went to the front line with a Transport-Tiger. Comparable to a Berge-Tiger has this one no maingun, only a havy MG and can carry 12 infantry soldiers. Cheesy

New units won't really attract new faces. If it did, we'd have more people playing, it is a short lived fantasy. The gameplay mechanics have to radically change, i.e pool removal unlocks options of building themed company. Limitating things is like only giving you only enough blanks to build a single wall for your house.

What often awoke attention was doctrine reworks, like overall remakes but those take too much time, so simplier things can be done. Pool removal!


Also...if we were able to connect EIRR into Steam...then we'd get Steam adversitements to our aid. Downloading EIRR via Steam etc.

and I think the allied and axis units should be comparable.

ab like luftwaffe; inf like terror; armour like blitz; etc,....

I can't understand why the allied boys rifle is so much better as the axis one and dont tell me that is real. By other thinks they tell me its just a game..

TIL, in order to make a good RTS game, the armies need to have blatant holes in their design that can be easily exploited.

And the poor poor Germans get is panzer IV's with 160 damage, 4 man hmg42 teams, strafe run of doom, ostwinds that can kill t34s FROM THE FRONT.

Yeah, I feel so fucking sorry for them.

COH 2 Tier design is terrible though, COH 1 was much better in that regard. Feels like they changed it just because they could.

A lot of the mods for COH were better made. The balance always went down hill in the series after beta, in both COH and COH 2.

I'll admit, the design for COH1 was rather captivating, but it didn't permit too many variations in strategy.

For example, if the US got BARs, you had to get vet 2 infantry vet for WH otherwise you could not compete. So yeah, I do miss "global upgrades" and the drastically different armies, but with COH2, they evened everything out. It would be good for competitive play provided games didnt last a good hour every time and they reworked the maps back to resource/cut off maps.

That being said, the engine is perfect for EIR2 and we can change absolutely anything we want with the game that we don't like. There is so much potential! It already functions alot like EIR by the fact you get individual unit upgrades and your men come offmap, territory auto captures, etc.

Actually, part of the engine was expanded and other parts cut down... For example, penetration is no longer distance based and it's the same at max and min range, a shame imo.
