I could be way off but wasn't the E8 really just the sherman upgun and a tiny bit faster?

Better suspension (No real ingame effect) and slightly more armor I think.

The officer is considerably better than a riflemen squad at carrying weapons.
Officers have good accuracy so they will hit most targets.

Immune to tread breakers or better moving accuracy ?
Well E8 should replace jumbo and jumbo should be a reward card. Just saying.
E8 : Normal Sherman with bonus armor + better moving accuracy.

The E8 was one of the things that OMG did which I actually found myself quite liking, even if it wasn't "Technically" correct.
A Sherman with an M10 gun.
The penetration is only slightly better than the 76mm (For the most part), but it has very high damage in comparison to the 76mm (76mm has 87.5, M10 3 inch has 112.5 with 1.25 damage vs quite a few targets).
You'd have a Sherman chassis (Decent speed, decent armour, good health) with 45 range and the ability to give tanks a bruising. You'd lose your main source of AI but a .50cal can still have you doing alright.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.

But don't we already have tanks serving this role? The Slugger is exactly what you describe but with the pershing hvap instead of M10 gun and it's not all that expensive.

Yes, we already have tanks serving this role.
Reward units tend to do that a lot.

I am a little disappointed as to how Reward units are the dominant units right now and stock units are basically filler. Reward units are just way too plentiful and easy to get.
This will be changing with the Warmap tweaks - I hope.

reward units are what make the mod fun to play at the minute. I don't get why everything is being frowned upon like doctrines and reward units. sure there are imbalances and that's the reason why shit is being put on hold to balance it a bit. but we've practically taken the game back to vcoh without base buildings. I for one don't really find that fun, why put so much effort into a mod to disable everything. without reward units you might as well go play cheatmod and get all the units from the get go because apparently that's the appeal to some people that you don't have to wait to get certain units.

I think this is a fair point. I would also say that the past 5-6 years of history of EiRR has proven, without a doubt, that the players get tired of shit very quickly and want new content to continue playing.
Over the last few months the mod has been full doctrines and mass Reward units. Everyone was excited for a while then the population just died off again.
We just disabled Doctrines and now the launcher is seeing high players numbers again (compared to 6 months ago)
The community has shown that it wants to see change to be interested. If we release changes a bit at a time rather then everything at once, all the time, then the game is always evolving.
Right now mostly what we see is Reward unit spam. Same shit every game...blah, blah, blah. In a couple of months from now everyone will be bored because it is the same old shit.
However: if we reduce the number of RW units in play, then they become even more popular and create a unique environment. The same goes for doctrines. If we go with a slot system and only release abilities every few weeks or so, then the game is constantly changing.
Want proof? Just look at what happened when we disabled Doc. The whole meta game has shifted.
I do not want to get rid of anything. I just think we need to release it a bit at a time and keep the game changing and interesting.

that's a fair enough point. but if reward units become rare meta game will change to players solely hunting other peoples reward units and said people wont want to play or will only stack and we're stuck at stage 1 again lol
unless we go on some kind of routine to swap it up regularly like, no doctrines vcoh, to rare reward units and cards etc, and batshit crazy weekends of every unlock available to everyone. I know some people would like to try out an army with 3 t4s, it'd be that crazy all the imbalances would cancel it each other out. people who don't like it only have to miss a day or 2 and it will be back to normal.

Probably true, but I don't think the hunting is problem. The pussies that avoid the battle will always be the pussies that do that now.

Yup, same pussies typically. They stack now in our current form, so pussies are always going to pussy.....tbh.
I think the weekend idea is good in theory, but It would be a logistical nightmare from a coding / SQL perspective.
The compromise may be just resetting more often. If we can set it up that docs and reward units are wiped with each war rest, but vet retained? Then we just set the warmap parameters to reset faster. I would prefer to see the war reset every 6 weeks with a complete wipe of docs / RW units.

What about training your units ? Training units just for being wiped ?

What do you mean "Train you units"? Are you referring to teching up the doctrine tree?
So then what? You tech up, get all the doctrine unlocks, then get a bunch of reward units and then..............and then..............wait for it..............and then what?
What comes after that. What new awesome thing is going to happen to change the meta game? What could the dev team possibly invent that is going to make the game play different?
I could be wrong, but the game for the last year has been as boring as fuck and stagnant. Same old builds with the same old docs that have been unlocked for the past year.
I couldn't care less about having to tech up again if it makes the game change and creates a new environment every now and again.

What will change from builds if we just keep teching up?.
i can already tell you without a crystal ball what builds are going to be.
rifles,atgs,m10s.
That is like the golden build then everyone zerg rushes tech towards 2x reps allies will spams t18's stags.
Axis will probably go 2x if not will head towards oaks. spam Stuhs p4s, oaks tigers.
after that its pretty much the more of the same.
