You should

GrayWolf is Darsin in your team? If so he needs to be added on the website, if not, you're with Clonetroopers

You need 16 teams to do a straight knockout tournament. Any even number will do for groups then knockouts

goddamn I don't imagine we'll get 16 with the current playerbase, who knew?

This is madness, guess we'll have to some kind of group stage thing first

Guys, we have a choice to make here.

1. Wait until (if) we have 16 teams

2. Run a quick Round Robin tournament (look at the current bracket on the site) and the top 8 go through.

3. Use a different generator that has a built in group stage.

The issue with Challonge is that it doesn't have an option for a group stage, I wish I'd realised this when I chose it.

I've found a new website that I think we should use if we don't get enough teams.

Located here: http://binarybeast.com/xCoH1405200

It's a bit more complicated but basically it starts with groups and then automatically moves onto elimination (either single or double), which Challonge unfortunately doesn't allow.
It has an option for uploading replays of each game as well.

I'll need you all to register again on the new site if that's the case, will put up a poll.

Edit: Ugh, I've found a new issue with the BinaryBeast website in that it doesn't yet have the functionality for teams, only individual players I think, so I guess if we use it you'll have to create an account with your team name and sign up to the bracket with that, you can share the password with your partner.

I have a question. Why do we need a site that makes the tournament look pretty? Whats wrong with just using the forum and have:

Round1:

Team 1 vs Team 2

Team 3 vs Team 4

[...]

Round 2: Team 1 vs Team 4

[...]

Regardless of that anyway, unless we forget double elimination and go back to single elimination (which is what I wanted anyway), we're still gonna have the issue of not enough teams.

Although at this point it's probably best if it was single elimination tbh, this is just potentially the first of perhaps a few tournaments, so I don't need to go that big on it really I guess

This is just a thought, but it seems to me the tournament is only really a glorified series of stack battles.  It is my impression that's why these things never get off the ground, in that either you never get a decent amount of teams (good luck getting 16), or they never finish because people cant coordinate times or folks disappear or lose interest.  Really the second round of these tourneys just end up looking like the lobby usually does with two games up and neither launching because one is for "leet" players and the other for average folks.  If you guys are fine with this, then tourney on.

But, if you really want to get as many people as possible involved, then you may want to consider something a bit more complicated where people sign up as individuals and you play a long series of round robins where everyone plays with, and against, everyone else, and the people with the best winning percentage can claim to be "the best" or some such.

I realize the counter argument is that EiR is a team game and I only play with people of my caliber blah blah, but I think its a better measure of "skill" if you can carry folks versus better teams.  Also, I think the difficulty in this option is the actual organization of the round robin rather than getting teams to sign up, since there is no longer a need for premade teams here, but games can also be done more flexibly since they will get completed depending on who is in launcher rather than a set schedule with set people so nothing happens in the meanwhile.

In any event, just a thought...
