Sorry for the impatience, but as I don't know what's going on and I don't want to wait for days, or weeks or months for single reply from a dev, I'm creating this topic for these questions to put a little heat on. I could have waited for reply at other threads, but I like the mod too much and I've been thinking about this for too long so I had to create the topic to release and reduce this bother from my mind.

-Are devs still active? How many? What are they working on?
-Is there anything at all which will/could/won't be released in public?
-Is EiR2 (for CoH1) still in progress or is it halted?
-Is EiR2 being build for CoH2 now instead of CoH1?

Like allways I'm excepting "colourful" replys from the community which I don't mind, but the actual inside information from the devs or from the people involved in the mod creating is what matters.

All I've to add:
This mod has huge potential in coh2 (I'd like to see eir2 in coh1 if the progress has gone that far that its a good idea to take it to end).
Most of the playerbase have moved to CoH2.
All you've got do is to make EiR for CoH2 and..
it will be a huge success and we have a new eir with fresh big community.

My opinion, current intel and speculation upon this is as follows...

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

I was really hoping that Eirrmod was going to make an announcement about this, but | guess he decided not to.

Eirrmod has resigned from the mod and we do not have anyone that can do his end of the work. So we are pretty much fucked now......so ya, that's the scoop.

I had hoped Xeoniz would jump in, but I have been unable to get a hold of him for the past week. If he does not show up in the next few weeks I will be pulling the plug on everything.

Okay well it's a shame, but good to know. I'm not going to say any estimates about the future as realistic thinker as I am, but I can only hope to see new devs to join and build this mod. I'd like to help in any way as I can currently (mapping, video making), but coding is the most important part of modding which I can't do well enough yet.

Yes, it does appear that this is actually the end of the road for EIR. We simply no longer have the player base and developers to keep the project afloat. I suppose a more official statement may still be made, but I figure I may as well comment a little more.

Its been an impressive 8 years, with big ups and downs and as someone who has been here since the very day, it pains me to see it end this way, but ultimately I believe it was inevitable with the development path we chose and the long stretch of uncertainty regarding a potential successor. The good news about COH2 simply came too late for us.

I think I can speak in name of the EIR team, both former and current, when I say I thank you all for having made this possible. EIR owes it success to you, the people who have been willing to put up with a buggy, complex, incomplete and often-times frustrating experience simply because like us you all saw its massive potential and were able to appreciate the gameplay at its heart. It was one hell of a ride.  I for one will never forget the great people I met and the amazing time I spent working on and playing the mod.

Mind you, this is certainly not going to be the end for the persistency mod and COH2. There are quite some people working on a way to mod COH2 and ultimately offer a similar persistent kind of experience. It won't be EIR2 I suppose, but I am confident the concept will live on in whatever spiritual successor pops up eventually. As such, I hope we all meet again real soon.

All the best

This is Snarks or ThetaCommander for those who remember me better by that name. I'm technically no longer part of the EiR community, but I had my good run of it for the first couple years of its existence. Even now, some of the old buddies I've made while playing EiR would revisit the forums and read old forum topics. I suppose if the website goes down, that puts an end to that as well.

For the good times that were had, for the hair that was pulled out in frustration...

For the people I got along with, for the people I simply could not fucking stand...

For the joy of the vet hunt, for the thrill of keeping it alive...

For all that I say thank you, and god speed.

Damn, was really hoping the news of COH2 mod stuff would revitalize the mod into EIR2. COH/EIR will always go down as one of the best times in PC games I've had Smiley

I really hope eirrmod will make an official post about this if Xeoniz doesn't step up to continue on this great mod.

Would really like to know why he decided to throw the towel Embarrassed

Was great fun with everyone, I enjoyed my stay here, even if it meant I lost one of my longest friends due to a unit I indirectly killed hehe. It shows how emotional this game got people, and that really shows the greatness of this mod.
