People expect them to be riflemen+ I think, so tend to just charge in, but at close range, they are worse than a rifleman squad. They are mid/long dps machines that hold ground very well. Which is why I think they are great in Armor generally. Your Jumbos/Scotts/Greyhounds and other tanks do the pushing/heavy lifting for you. Marines come in and hold the line while tanks repair.
