Folks, I'm not sure how many of you have noticed this already, but it's getting particularly hard to rack up veterancy on a rifle squad.

Just for reference:

Vet 1: 13 XP (vs. previous 6 XP)
Vet 2: 50 XP (vs. previous 25 XP)
     Vet 3: 150 XP (vs. previous [I can't remember, 50-75?] XP)

As an Armour player, I rely on riflemen as my everything infantry, AT, AI, etc. As you know, I can't fire them up, I can't give them a ranged (Not thrown, fired) AT weapon, and my base infantry-fighting capability is rather low. Now, I'm not sure about you, but I usually can't keep rifle squads alive for more than 4-5 battles in a row, and I'm having a very hard time getting them to vet 2, where the sticky bomb use becomes fairly good... Is there any particular reason that it's been changed?

I don't know the exact amounts on Airbourne or Rangers, but I hear it has been increased as well...

volks are much cheaper then riflemen but grens are not much more expensive...

the bar is much more expensive than an lmg42 but last one is much more powerfull

axis have much better inf for almost same cost

and its much more easy to get axis vet......

I think the game is alot more balanced now that the vet boost for Allied forces is in place.

It makes it so Axis players have a breathing chance during Infantry Combat, and forces allied players not to waste their rifle squads with vet so carelessly.

Beautiful Change.

Lols at LMG being better than BAR. I suppose if you don't count the instant suppression of a squad and anything near it as powerful....

wtf? allies complain about their vet? GREAT!!!! lets switch, axis is twice hard to vet, but gets the same bonus as allies now, and allies are very easy to vet, even 1 kill can get vet1 is balanced.

seriously, axis vet up faster than allies, so what? their first level of vet at 8exp does absolutely nothing!
their second vet at 33exp, and they gets the bonus which is worse than what allies get at vet 1!! which is 13exp

i will get 2 bars vs 1 lmg any day, check the calculator i made at coh-stats
http://www.coh-stats.com/Zaxis/mgs/

2bars have much higher dps than 1 lmg

oh its balanced, but the entire point of EIR is to unbalance the game.  If you really want balance, go for some vCOH action.  This persistancy is around to make the game more fun by adding imbalance; letting a player customize their company, make it better.  The problem w/ axis vet is that it is boring.  I look at it and see nothing cool or exciting to make me want to vet up my units.  And the experience is much poorer for that.

A good way to make axis vet more appealing ( and intresting) would be to keep the vet bonus's at the same level, but allow the unlocking of abilities at different vet levels.

Simply for example, as it has already partly been implemented with the panther i will demonstrate.

Panther vet 1, 15% reduced damage or whatever it is, allows mg upgrade to be bought.
panther vet 2, 25% more damage, allows sideskirts to be purchased.

panther vet 3, 25% reduced penetration, allows special ammunition to be purchased/ smoke launchers or whatever really.

I think a good way to take axis vet is to keep the bonus's smaller than the allies, but have the vet levels unlock upgrades, this will prvent axis players bringing hordes of the same vet unit, all with super upgrades, however it would allow axis to field specialized and highly powerful units, in comparison to allies "hordes".

Meh, just an idea.

Also, I lost a game due to not enough anti-infantry units, so airborne get double damage at each vet level.

More changes to come.

Vet 1 seems decent enough for me. I was able to keep a 2 man Shrek squad on the field  for half a game, and it got a Halftrack, Croc, and half a Sherman dead.

2 BARs may have muc higher dps than 1 lmg...That's two fucking bars. 2 BARs is two riflemen, and  2 LMGs can be on the same Gren squad, so that's 420 MP 260 MU compared to 240, 200 and  ONE bar should be better than an LMG at 30 MU difference.

the damage output and the survivability of a lmg gren squad is much higer then of a bar riflesquad

try to use a bar riflesquad against a grenadier lmg squad and look who wins the fight
