Why are Greyhounds so expensive? It seams to me that it is a very cost ineffective unit. To really get your money back you need to completely deck it out with skirts and 50 cal and that costs 210 munitions and 20 extra fuel.

Why not just buy a quad for half the munitions cost and a third of the fuel? Quads also don't cost 9 popcap they are 5. I can have both a rifle squad with bar and a quad for the same munitions price of a M8 hound. Little more pricey with man power, but rifles are pretty cheap so that's cool. Plus if you go armored company you can capture territory with quads! Support that with an AT gun and you can take on most assaults.

Now, don't get me wrong, I think the fuel and man power for the M8 is perfect. Its just for the 9 pop cap you need a beefy unit, one that will last a while and earn is cost. I don't see the M8 doing that right now and it kind of bugs me. I very much dislike how of one of the twelve units that my faction has at its disposable is completely impractical to field.

But the thing that really bugs me is that the puma, the M8s axis counter part, is very cost effective. It comes with a gun that is highly effective agents infantry by it self, and it can be upgraded to hunt Shermans for 35 fuel.

Why is that the case? From what I hear its to easy to build a company around JUST M8s! They can capture territory with mobility, an armor company teir 1, well then remove it. Replace it with a different ability problem solved!

Bring on the 7 pop cap, 60 mu 50 cal, 40 fuel for skirts M8! Hell, while your at it drop the Shermans 50cal to 100mu flat.

PS: Hate me all you want, doesn't make the core of what I've said not ture. Hugs to every body, flame away.

Edited: Puma up gun is 35 fuel, not 20, my bad.

I agree that for the unit they are over priced;however they are that way because if they were cheaper (as they were in the past) they are spammed.  If spammed correctly this will take out just about all of the enemies AT capabilities and then your teammates can steam roll though them and win pretty easily.

greyhound was spamed in last patch to lay bugged greyhound mines everywhere, now mines are fixed, i dont see why greyhound needs price increase

quad is very effective as mobile hmg, the only problem it face are dual shreck storms

no, the mine bug had nothing to do with it.  YOu apparently have never fought against Stumpsters greyhound spamming company prior to the mine bug.  His company consisted of nothing (or almost nothing) but Greyhounds and he would send them out 2-3 at a time, take out as much AT as he could, losing them all, and then call in another 2-3 to do the same thing again.  It depleted the axis AT when they tried to combat it, and was entirely way to effective.

I think since manpack at is much more common than when greyhounds were nerfed, their pop needs to be reconsidered.

the greyhound wasn't nerfed because of the mines, it was nerfed because it can kill anything on the field and cap and out attrition full armies by and in of itself.  When greyhounds can swarm and kill tigers and panthers with ease, and out attition an army of its AT ability, and cap the map, it tends to get nerfed.  Hence why its so different then the puma still.

If thats the reason lower the M8s pop to 7 and remove the 'Mobility' ability from the Command teir 1 then replace it with some thing different. I know I've been burning for some sort of experience modifier bonus for my tanks. I wouldn't mind 10%+ less exp to level up on tanks. Another possibility would be a ability that reduces the cost of vehicle upgrades by 10%.

lowering the pop would do what?  They were raised because you could field 3 of them, and could kill Panthers and Tigers with them.  Not only that you could easily take out PAKs and it didnt matter if they died cause you would field more to take out the shrek squads.

I think the upgrades could use a price decrease. If Greyhounds are going to stay at the price they are at, I don't see what's wrong with making them really worth the bang for the buck.

Although I've never seen that done, I assume it is possible if you had Tungstens tipping and were hitting the back armor. Also you would probably use mines for the m8s to do the majority of the damage. Then again that is, even at the old 7 population, more pop cap than a panther. If you had a pak supporting the panther I bet things would be a fair bit different.

But regardless, that is just a theory so who knows what would happen. Certainly not myself, as I've never seen more than a single M8 on the battle field. I thin I'll try fielding them, see if I can acutely get their cost back some how.

Guardsmen, actually no, they werent using tungston tipping nor where they dropping mines.  A M8 (or several of them) circling a Tiger/Panther will rarely get hit, the turret doesnt turn fast enough and by the time it turns to acquire the target it is out of view and it picks another target and tries to follow it, then when it is out of view it picks another...goes on and on.  Meanwhile the M8s are just hitting it with their bb gun doing minimal damage, but that damage will add up, and eventually kill it.

I <3 greyhounds! i would love to see a slight price decrease or makes them 8 popcap, because although they are great, they are really expensive, I never have anymore then 1 in a company, but that one gets skirts and .50.

Microing 3 M8 simutaneosly is a very hard feet against a Panther, they only really were able to do it before because of that glitch where armor couldn't hit M8's or Pumas when they got close. It's not as big of a deal anymore. M8's need a buff.

Why not just replace mobility with something like; Gives all vehicles 10% Sight and wepon range and halftracks will be able to capture territory.
It'll make early armor more attractive and acctually distinguish it from infantry/airborne early on.

Then you could acctually lower the m8 pop again without having them as "main infantry".

It might be the quality of people you play, rather than the m8 its self, i wouldn't know. the only game i saw it fucked up like 5min in.  I refuse to believe the m8 spam is back until i see APEX come screaming about the allied milk truck that is laying mines at doorsteps instead of milk bottles.

Also, I lost a game due to not enough anti-infantry units, so airborne get double damage at each vet level.

More changes to come.
