Thing is with micro... when does it get better, i have been playing CoH since before it came out in the UK Wink, when does this time when you can actually micro come about? a few weeks, months, years?
For some people it only takes a few weeks, other months, exceptionally few may take years.
And unfortunately, for others, it'll never come.

The best way to properly learn vCoH is by playing 1vs1 extensively. Don't just play a few games, play at least one or two every day.
The way I see it, you play COH for a few days/weeks at most then take a large break and come back later expecting to be just as 'good' as you were before you left.

"Skill" in vCoH is not like riding a bicycle. If you don't play frequently, if you take large breaks, etc you will lose a large portion of your "skill".

You'll never become a good player if you only play an occasional vCoH or EIR game. The only way you can ever be a good player at this game, and any game or RL skill for that matter is by frequent practice, repetition, persistence. (And a little bit of natural "skill", some people will never get really good at RTS, just like others will never get really good at shooters, and just like others will never become excellent at Chess, or soccer, or baseball, etc)
ahh but some people are shit at vcoh and are pretty awesome at europe in ruins only

from the amount of posts you have one would think you're a better player.

in all honesty, maybe you should play more CoH.

I suck at vCoH since i have not familiarized myself with building orders, and never liked them. In EiR, i get to simply Micro units which i love. Smiley

i used to simply play against AI, set up a killzone, and watch the blood Tongue
Me + Building orders = unhappy camper.

vCoH is a lot faster paced and takes better and quicker micro imo. EIR you can sit back and relax a bit and half the battle is won before you even get to the field depending on company make up/cps/vet etc. I would say you are more likely to find good EIR players who are bad at vCoH than good vCoH players who are bad at EIR.

another tip cozmo in EIR popcap is your resource You need to bring out the correct units to counter your enemy.
and if you bring it out use it,  your popcap is wasted if you leave it behind or not doing anything
another thing is you are playing to passive you need to be more agressive and use support weapons in the back line Supporting your front line units

for scouting use jeep bike storm sniper or even volks riffle btw your support weapons got more range then their LOS so they can cover from a nice distance

I'm terrible at vCOH - I am physically unable to juggle my economy/unit production with unit micro

I think i'm significantly better at EIR - dunno if i'm one of the better players, but I can definitely hold my own

I'm real good at Vcoh, but I suck at EIR because of all the tactical differences and doctrines and all that stuff. It makes it tons harder to play both. I personally love to use my Volks&Storms, I hate Grens. Angry Gotta love it when I beat 5gren squads with a vet3 jeep and a vet1 rifle and tons of support weapons in vcoh. Whats real funny is when you somehow chase down a limping tiger with a jeep and kill it. Grin So Realistic.

Tigers have nearly unarmored fuel tanks at the back, ap round 5ß could kill it.
But I guess, in reality the tiger would hit when shooting back Wink

Then the jeep would just bounce the shell.

But if we want to be realistic, then my Rifles could just pop open the hatch on that bitch and put the BAR to the crew.

Cozmo has been around EIR since...forever.

If you don't have the time to play games, watch replays made by vCOH/EIR experts on 8x mode. Though the game might seem really, really fast, you'll get used to it. You'll see when to retreat squads, how to predict grenades, etc. And you'll start to see patterns in gameplay, and how gameplay dynamics shift over time.

I'm no expert, but I'll look at these tomorrow.

Movies aren't true. Realistically if an Infantry squad climbed on the tank, the tank crew would button up (ie lock the hatches) and fire small arms weapons through various fire ports on the tank.

Tankers were 'trapped' in steel cans, but they weren't stupid.

Honestly Cozmo; I didn't think you did to bad, you could have done much worse.

One big thing that I saw, and continue to see in peoples games is the complete lack of using shot blocking terrain features. I'm talking about clumps of trees and buildings most. Stay behind them and nothing can touch you, they have to come to you.

I also saw the age old thing of 'Unit Rage' this is where a player MUST KILL a unit before they do anything.

But other than that I think you just got outplayed, not really beaten, just outplayed as their rush at the start kinda put you out of place.

I'm thinking of doing either a series of replays, video montage of not to do or the like. Interest?

Its like the belief that german tanks had unarmored areas. The Tiger for instance was near impenetrable to medium tank guns from all angles.

Why do people always assume you can just hop on a tank and open the hatch? the hatches lock from the INSIDE! so your rifles would hop up on there, and then be like "uhhhhh"

So I'm curious, how long does a jeep have to shoot at a tiger, and how little health does it have to have to actually kill it???

GoGo Guys, we can either lift the sherman over the tiger or dig a tunnel under it, your choice!
