Desir see you can either take a range of numbers or be smart and take the distance between the core of the earth and the core of the moon witch will be nearly always the same.

You sure?the moon is in a different place every min.. So You were inside the range yes. But he said moon, not the moons core. And the moon is as I said 356,500 km and 406,500 km I mean you'll never be right precisely with one answer because the moon and earth  have axises The moon doesn't make a perfect ladedado circle around the earth its never precise, its somewhat like an oval is what I'm saying. You were right the moon is 384,403 km away, at a certain time of the day or year. I'm not trying to be an ass or anything. I just like to make the worst of everything. They call me a pessimist. And who are you?oh wait different thread.

At any given time 384,403 kmīs will be more accurate than "between 356,500 km and 406,500 km".

I have to disagree with you here. His original statement was pretty vague. It does not specify exactly what two points are separated by that distance. Does he mean himself, the town center of where he lives, maybe the earth core or the point at that time closest to the moon. On the other side, does he mean the moon core, or the point closest to the earth? That means that it COULD potentially be correct at that specific time, given some assumptions for the start and end points.

Besides, coming back to your original post, his distance is well within the range you've specified. While highly unlikely that it was, in any way, correct at the time he posted it you cannot positively prove that it was incorrect. Hence, no ownage took place.

PS. I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm just a troll. Sometimes it's hard to tell them apart =) This thread being locked makes it even better, autowin.
