What do you mean put it somewhere else? Isn't it supposed to go in the THQ/CompanyofHeroes/EuropeinRuins/Archives?

Unpack the battle.sga to your desktop. Rename the other battle.sga to something else or better yet just move it to somewhere else. Then put the unpacked battle.sga from your .rar into the archives folder. Do not try to move it from the .rar directly into the folder.

Run the shortcut in admin mode. Right click, run as Administrator.

The replay is from an older patch. Use one from the current version.

I got it. I had to go in the properties of winrar itself and select run as administrator and make it compatible with vista. Thanks for everything!

1. Unpack the battle.sga so that the file is on your desktop.
2. Rename or move the current EuropeInRuinsbattle.sga that is in your eir/archives folder to some other place.
3. Put the battle.sga that was on your desktop into that archives folder.

OK I had 5 minutes so I made a batch script to collect peoples saved games quickly and easily.

Since bat files are not allowed to be uploaded you will need to download it and rename it to a .bat file.

Then simply doubleclick it to run.

It will look for the latest replay file and grab a copy of the EIR SGA file and make a folder on the root of C (with a timestamp) with a copy of the files.

There is no zip as Microsoft in their infinite wisdom has removed zip from being accessed via bath or from a command prompt.  I could write this is perl and get around all that but... effort....

Replay helper version 2:

I rewrote the tool in perl and made it into a Windows EXE so that people can run it to make it easy to save replays and load replay files!! I would recommend to the devs to add a similar tool to the launcher to help people save their replays more easily.

Usage:
1. Double-click the EXE file to have the tool copy the latest .rec file from the replay folder and the EuropeInRuins.sga file and zip them both up.  It will create a local zip file (where the helper tool is) with a timestamp on the zip file name.
2. Drag a zip file onto the EXE that contains a .rec and an EuropeInRuins.sga file.  The tool will extract the files and place the .rec and the sga file into the right folders automatically.  Then just fire up the replay.
3. Drag a onto the EXE  .rec and an EuropeInRuins.sga file.  The tool will place the supplied files into the right folders automatically.  Then just fire up the replay.

The attached zip file has the following password on it:
eir

The EXE also includes the source code (in perl) for people that want to review it.

NOTE: Your local anti-virus software may need an exception for this.  I hand wrote this so I can vouch that its clean however, my local virus protection software needed an exception for it to allow it to play with zip files.  Be aware that you might need to do so as well.

BUGS:  Every program has bugs or improvements that make sense.  Please make sure to let me know if you spot and bugs or if you have a good suggestion.  Remember that the tool will make a log of whats its up to.  Since I can't test all possible installation types, make sure to note your environment and what the log states if you see problems.

The forums for some reason, thinks that the file is too big?
So I uploaded it here:
