Riflemen and Rangers all have Garands. Sergeants carry Carbines. Airborne carry Carbines.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

IIRC, Carbines are slightly better at short range but significantly worse than long. Which is saying a lot, seeing as Rifles lose to Volks at long anyway.

i have found another issue with the us infantry's garand and carbine... they fire too slow, ROF is lame.. if you look at the men, after they shoot, they make a motion as if they are using a bolt action rifle.. which they are not.. i noticed this when once i had a normal rifleman squad duke it out with a grenadier squad, and barely held my own, so i looked at replay and ya, they are fireing way too slow for semiauto rifles, they dont have the advantage they held in reality..   the the carbine or garand guys shot faster, the normal rifleman squads could hold their own against many upgraded german units..

any comments?

p.s.  i own both weapons, so looking at the replay makes my laugh lol.
another balance job?

It's fine. EIR/COH is a RTS, not a realism sim.

Realism is OP. Gameplay>Realism.

The semi auto nature of the rifles is represented by a big fire rate increase at close range for the garand/carbine, much better than what (say) volks get.

lazy animators! which actually isn't true, because wouldn't it be easier to make an animation of them not moving their hands after firing?

it's actually lazy balance team for relic. They put in a windup/winddown on garands, and for every single rifle in the game it results in the "bolt action" animation. Which is why we're seeing it ^^.
IMO, replace windup/winddown with moar cooldown between shots! That way it'll look purty!
Just kiding ^^.

Carbines fire faster and are lighter to carry, thats why paras and rangers get fire up tbfh.
