Hmm... now admittedly I'm pretty out of the loop on current EIR status, but I have long advocated faster leveling and less MMORPG-style grinding. (see thread)

4-8 weeks to get a T4 seems excessive to me.  I found it much better when players started with a T4 rather than having to play for weeks to get one.  Under that system, players also had more ability to try other doctrines and factions.

That said, I trust EIRRMod and the other devs to make a fun and exciting game.  I just hope they keep the casual gamer in a mind and have ways for players to access the fun toys without having to play tons of games.

I mean, how will you make a war last an arbitrary period of time?

It'll be designed to last 8 - 12 weeks as Eirrmod has stated.

Designed does not necessarily mean "predetermined". If a war takes longer (which I hope that it can, assuming competance and good games from both sides roughly equally) than it's designed to, that's not a problem, it's just a result of normal gameplay.

For instance, I doubt Relic "designed" Tyranids to be OP in their first iteration of Dawn of War 2, but they were. In fact, they designed Tyranids to be completely balanced - yet despite their design expectations, unexpected results occured. I'm sure that unexpected results will occur regardless of design expectations on the part of the team, that's why this community gives such rapid (and often biased) feedback.

We are serious about enforcing this, and I am sure you all want to be able to have your balance thought considered by the development team with some biased, sensationalist coming into your thread and ruining it.

It's easy to make it last a certain amount of time, just give one side some OP doctrine abilities, wait til the wars over, then "balance" them  Grin

I mean isn't that what happened in old EIR? Obviously not on purpose, but that's just how things played out, if there's an OP doctrine then good players will want to give it a try making it even worse, tilting the war in that sides favor.

no, in the old EIR the players always dictated when the war will end.

The testosterone in this thread is ridiculous.

The people behind EIRR have made an awesome addition to CoH. I have become addicted to it. For that, they deserve all the respect and thanks they can get.

But that being said, the OP should not be marginalized or ignored, because there is always room for improvement.

The sore feelings and snide comments are not great for the community, particularly for newcomers to the mod.
