yesterday i played this game, my 2 stormscrecks were basicly the entire game on the field. at the end they killed together:

- a mortar bunker
- a staghound
- 2 ATGs
- a 25 pdr under construction
- some infantry
- and another tank or light vehicle, depends on which the staghound was

one squad got 5 xp, the other 9 xp.

my question: is this normal?

no, at the begin they were vet 0, they got 5 and 9 xp during the game, while they killed so much stuff, and the point where they reach vet 2 is like 100 times higher.

Yea, ATGs and emplacements don't give XP, so you basically killed 1 staghound and a few infantry.  ATGs count as tank kills in the kill counter when you select the unit too, so that might have been what the last thing you killed was.

because uncrewed at guns used to give xp so people would kill them for xp. which btw is kinda silly because people try to destroy them anyway. I say bring back the xp gain for at guns, it used to be like 3, just make it one, same for mortar and hmg guns they're important to kill and 1 xp is absolutely nothing in the scheme of things but will reward you for being more diligent in cleaning up the battlefield of your enemies decrewed support weapons.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

i remember the lols in the closing few minutes of the game when one side was clearly beaten and tanks would charge round the battlefield looking for ATGs to kill.

ok, that explains the atg thing, but if you blow up the atg, at least 2 man die. you must get xp for that, and why no xp for mortar bunkers?

agree with tym, it's very important to destroy or steal weapons, it can really change the ride of a battle, and i think it's one of those things that separates a noob from a good player. So you should get XP for it.

"Alright, chaps, we need you to go over there and blow up that AT gun that Jerry left lying around. And once you've blown up enough of them - say, about fifty - then you'll have a better idea how to survive on the battlefield and kill the Hun."

Doesn't really make sense, tbh.

are you saying target practice doesn't make someone a better shot? it makes perfect sense. it would just be better if it were possible for them to make it so ATGs with crews gave more XP than ones laying around.

There's a difference between being able to aim and shoot at something that doesn't move or shoot you back, and the abstract form of combat experience and survival skills that xp in-game reflects. Target practice isn't all the training soldiers recieve, nor is it all that they need to be good soldiers.

If it was simply a matter of shooting at dummy targets, why do they need to earn xp on the battlefield at all? Your soldiers could just spend all their downtime on the firing yard and come into battle at vet 3.

ATGs with crew is fine. Destroying ATGs without crew for xp isn't.

What difference does it make if I shoot an AT gun that isn't moving, and an AT gun that isn't moving, but with 3 guys huddled around it? If anything, the AT gun with the guys around it is a bigger target.

I don't know, because there is actually some skill/challenge/difficulty in trying to shoot actual people taking cover, evading fire and possibly trying to shoot back at you (meaning you have to keep your head down), compared to running two feet away from a discarded ATG and pumping your handheld AT of choice into it?

From the times they miss, quite a lot of skill is needed apparently..

But then again, how does shooting enemy's make your tank faster, or how does killing people reduce the amount of DAMAGE you get? really? That's like, well, I shot 10 of your guys down, now I can take 2 bullets instead of 1 because I am badass!
