im talking about not just multiple accounts but profiles.

say you have me my acct is Tymathee and under that is my main Tym and then i have others like 1stinfdiv, blondesmurf, etc. no one knows that its me under the others unless i say so. One of the big issues i have is that there are those that smurf who wont tell you who they really are, or say they're new and then proceed to pummel you in game.

I use a battalion naming system for my companies, next reset Ill be going to 54th followed by my company name.

so 54thWaffenSS for my Germans
and 54thBrittishArmy for my Allies

I do it because for replay value I think it looks cool when you have army names instead of my usual handle Vivie.

I think a 1 account per IP address would be a good policy, I haven't met anyone on EIRR that plays with a room-mate and those one off situations can easily be explained and worked around.

It would be cool if each room had a "comments" option that would show when you mouse over it in the launcher, so new players could specify  "new player looking for other new players to get familiar with mod".

While I do think playing average skill players is the best for newbies. As they can watch strategy's used by team-mates and used against them. I am always willing to explain to new players why my calls in consist of things and what to be cautious of. Even the other day against Lionel's artillery spam I had our "newbie" time Howie shots, and after he informed me it had just fired elsewhere on the map I rushed and crushed the artillery camp that won us the game.

All and all.
1. account per player
2. Perhaps have account name show when you mouse over a player in lobby.

so for me it would be   vivie5 / 54thWaffenSS.

Regards

We have several players who play from the same IP.  Hicks and his brother/friend, computer and his little brother.. uh and there's more can't remember atm.

OMG fixed this by giving IP exceptions for some players, I reckon EIRR will be able to do the same. I welcome the removal of smurfing, even if it is a great blow to my previous play I haven't smurfed for a month.. and schadenfreude takes precedence over my personal gain when BD and Aloha can't smurf anymore  Cheesy

Is there going to be some kind of feature that lets you able to click on a player and it takes you to his profile tab showing all his accounts, lvls, stats (total kills/losses) but will not show you wins and losses seperatly?

If we step up on smurfing, you'll still be able to make funny name profile names, people will just be able to tell it's you. (As it will show you the account name in the battle screen)

We started tracking people who use multiple accounts to smurf and we will have the account name show up in the battle screen eventually. I think it's likely that we will be moving towards a strict 'one account per player' policy in the future.

That would be stupid, i have had people tell me to leave there games because I have a rank 9 account...even when my doctrine abilities are a long way from amazing, its just stupid. Hidden names and ranks again please.

Smurfing is the heart of eir. Smurfing embodies everything eir stands for. How can you take that away? How can you crush the hopes and dreams of millions of players? Removing smurfing from eir is like removing suppresion from coh - its what makes coh such a dynamic, interesting, and tactical game. Likewise, removing smurfing leads to the drudgery of always knowing who your opponent is, and being able to accurately predict their skill. What's more exciting than sitting a game, waiting to be stomped by smokaz, and then having LoveLeiarede join as a smurf, just overthrowing the conventional order?

Looking for another campaign..? The oppressed (nameless) hordes of smurfs, their rights unjustly taken away from them

Smurfing is the ultimate proletarian ideal - masking the downtrodden into a giant conglomeration, a huddled mass of power. It prevents the patricians from stomping any no name team sitting in a 2v2, lest they be smurfs in disguise. Furthermore, smurfing allows the proletariat to lure the bourgiousie elite into games they would normally dodge, and ambush them. This is the only way to defeat the patriacians in battle.

actually according to popular communist EIRR newspaper this is not what the patricians use smurfing for. They use it to lazily murder the unwashed for their own sick pleasure. or to defeat and mock those bourgiousie of lower standing than them

BOURGIOUSIE PROPAGANDA! Smurfing (as I'm sure you well know, fingertrapped) IS THE ULTIMATE PROLETARIAT IDEAL. Imitating our great plebeian worker's leaders is the true way.

Limit to one faction and one doctorine is what made me come to EIRR from OMG in the first place. I facepalmed when I saw the Jumbo Shermans too.

For the IP exceptions: spinn72 and Enkk, hell, we even use the same acct for posting on the forums!

Everyone will be allowed to have one single launcher profile with up to ten different companies (you are not restricted to one side or a single doctrine), but the secondary companies will have a minor effect on the warmap, IIRC

By the way, is it possible to rename the companies without loosing them ?

I'd like to rename all of them and give them actual unit names instead of a nickname that they have now.

Not by yourself atm no, but if you ask a dev he can probably do it for you.

Now you're making it sound like terrorism to be honest.

It's usually the patricians who end up smurfing for their own enjoyment, watching their opponents despair in light of what appears to be an inferior opponent.

Well, you know, Your terrorists are our freedom fighters. I can't help thinking of Good Omens, where the angel and demon talk about this:
Quote from: Good Omens
"Maybe some terrorist—?" Aziraphale began.
"Not one of ours," said Crowley.
"Or ours," said Aziraphale. "Although ours are freedom fighters, of course."
They then compare notes and find out that most of the organizations are actually on both their lists.

Mind you, I'm vehemently opposed to smurfing in all its forms.
