Just been trying to think of a way to make it viable, since it sux right now.

How about this, it'd be useful and be historical.

+35% dmg, Short Range Pen = med/long pen (heat rounds penetrated the same at all ranges) but range -5 (heat rounds suffered from lower range) so you get a big buff in damage, pretty much guaranteed to penetrate tanks but you get a slight penalty in range.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

Tym, the damage bonus is not needed.

HEAT Rounds should be +20% pen; Pen Modifier at all ranges is the same as short range.

That would fix it to be useful.

Heavy tanks don't need it, and the damage bonus is minute. Pen bonus makes P4's and STuGs awesome, and Tigers and Panther more reliable.

new heat rounds should have made P4 on par with Up-gun sherman...

still isn't though the pen eff needs to go up not damage, and no way would i choose it if i lost range...

There won't be any range sacrifices.

We tried Positive/Negative buffs in the last doctrine iteration and it turned out horrible(remember Terror of Stalingrad-Paying to sacrifice kill crits)

Doctrine choices are buffs or timers/toggles to better effects.

We used to have Improved Barrels to fill the penetration gap a bit but we've since replaced that andtried to tie it into HEAT rounds. Clearly it hasn't been overly successful. Like everything in EIR  it's a trial and error system. We'll look into appropriate values and evaluate changes.

(I get home in a month and can definitely be ontop of things then)

You still have a Positive/Negative buff.

HVAP reduces the splash of Pershing rounds, cutting down on your AI capability.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

meh ok then 10% dmg and pen @ all ranges same as short. Most tanks have like .90, 1.00, etc at short range anyway. You'd be able to beat an upgun at long range with a p4 because the pen goes down to like 80 or so while ur still at 100 and you'd have a higher ROF.

and well the terror of stalingrad was a total fail lol but anyway

Tym, the issue isn't the range modifiers so much, it's the target table modifier.

Jesus, at least know how the stats work.

i do know how the stats work. and a p4 firing at long range hitting at 90% vs a sherman hitting at 85-90% will win because of reload, just barely but it would win.

AI Capability on it is still quite strong just not vanilla Pershing levels. It's something I'd like to see fixed(as well as a few other related things too)

We dont need a damage increase

Penetration would be amazing though, having your P4s be able to penetrate more than 80%

so like 25% more penetration. You dont need damage! it would become a T4 then

Terror of Stalingrad was good except for missing Kill crits.

I eventually dropped the pricetag on it and I ran it with Kill crits for a while. marked improvement and still balanced
