I guess when the only tank I normally use that can knock down trees is the IST those clumps seem like a bigger obstacle than for most other companies lol.  The area is kinda ridiculous for halftracks.  In the end though,  the snow really was the worst part of that map which I believe you've added an option for it not to snow.

I tested it when it uploaded and it doesnt want to work, so im going to have to play with the settings again.

Tbh, id rather just everyone else getting a better computer than me de-beautifying my map. (I really think it's just the trees anyways, not the slow falling snow. Its not rain)

The only map in the list I really enjoyed was Villers-Bocage. I love well done urban maps like this and Arnhem (go figure... Relic maps. of course they're well done). People who don't like urban maps need to man up.

The other maps were terrible.

Abbotsford is total clusterfuck shit. Plus: it doesn't look finished. So it's ugly to boot.

Downtown just doesn't look plausible and the gameplay on it is bland as hell. Remove plz.

Falaise wasn't bad. Wasn't good... but wasn't bad. Bloom and uninspired design conspired together to sabotage it.

Ardennes Village was lame, but could be easily fixed by making it more asymetrical and doing something (anything) with the forest pimples in the middle

Why do map-makers have such a hard on for totally flat, even terrain? Would hills and gullies be just TOO much to ask?

Personally I rather like Urban maps. Tanks can micro around buildings quite well when you learn a couple of key points.

The first, is how far away from a building a tank will move under it's natural pathing, and how close it has to get before it becomes stuck on the building.

The second, is how narrow a gap has to be for a tank's pathing to avoid it. Just because simple logic and physics dictate that the gap is clearly big enough, the pathing might not.

Once you know those points, and they are specific to each map, you can have a tank fly around an urban setting with micro and concentration.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

This is so typical for this community. One or two people bitch about a map so everybody else jumps on the band wagon. Then nobody has the opportunity to check for themselves because the argument starts in game.

Wind is terrible for this. He refuses to play if he doesn't like the map. His reason given for not liking the map is; it didn't take long enough to create, lacks detail.

If I was making maps, I would not waste my time on details until the map passed play testing from the community. If the overall map design is good, the pretty stuff can be added later.

Abbotsford is a great map. Needs some pretty stuff added, but the design is good. If you are wanting to run tanks around willy-nilly with no micro, this map will be a challenge for you.
I have played it from both sides and have won and lost equally.

I have not played the other maps for the same grief Smurf has encountered above.

Well, the maps belong to both Elitegren and I, and we think our second maps are better quality, so we just removed the first time maps we did.

No one said anything, we just didnt think they were getting played and like our new maps more.

P.S. None of the maps have "bugs" in them now. (that was just Faliase)

A couple may not be "pretty" but that certainly is no reason to not test them out, that is the entire point of the map packs. Public feedback, to get our mappers interested. Mappers dont map if their maps are not played. Now im giving our mappers all the support they could possibly ever want ever. If you dont want to try their new maps, there had better be a pretty good reason, or dont play at all.

If there is a general consensus CoH lobby to play one of the new maps, suck it up and play it, then send me your hate feedback, at least you'd be doing something useful.

well, all the maps are generally cool, but downtown is the only one i have a real problem with, its just soo basic that its gameplay on it is just soo bland and uninteresting and the pool in the middle messes up pathfinding pretty awfull, and a road that goes from spawn to spawn, a straight line -_-

Now, after actually having played these maps a number times is a good time to evaluate them, as opposed to before when people were basing their reviews on one game.

6p Brest (downtown, i guess)
Map is too basic and uninteresting, it's not polished or made with any kind of gameplay design point of view. It's unfinished. Still playable though.

6p Abbotsford
Too many buildings, looks very simple, no decorations or anything. Some buildings in the urban area should be removed so you can actually have units there, things such as hedgerows and fences are also missing. It's simply too hard to advance trough the urban areas, often games are decided when one team gets to the other side where they can set up a defensive line, before that happens it's usully attrition wars and not in a fun way, in a kiting and hiding behind buildings kind of way with what ever tanks or artillery you have. Still playable though.

6p Falaise
A really good map, can compete with Tanteville and Neuville. Everything is well thought out in a gameplay and balance perspective it also looks very nice. (Maps tend to be more interesting if it doesn't look like someone just placed the same object everywhere for 5 min and then called it a map.)

6/8p Villers-Bocage
Too much buildings for my taste and I think many people can agree. A complete city based map might sound fun in theory but it's not fun to play at all, especially since there are no real options, you're basically forced to play on one side of the map and there are no open areas or flanks and that means that some companies will excel while others perform poorly, it has the same annoying gameplay from Abbotsford's urban areas but without any alternatives, thus making it one the of the least playable maps in the mod.

Summary: I think Brest, Abbotsford and Villers-Bocage could all use some more work if they're going to compete with other maps so that players will actually start playing them.
