Is the fact that commando mortars and mgs have stens on their crew taken into price consideration? I don't think it is, and think it should be. They have smoke, are the toughest weapons crews to kill, and on top of that they do decent damage, stens seem to do good damage even on the move and at medium/long range. I think since normal commandos have enfields and have to pay for stens so should the weapons teams, or maybe they should get stens on the weapons teams through a doctrine ability (like the terror T4).

meh, they aren't great and can really only do damage up close and since the other side is german and they excel at long range, stay away from the crew and u wont have a problem

Stand at medium range and you'll still paste a commando support team even with a volk squad.

Also, two men have to man the mortar when deployed, making for only one guy with a sten, making the real 'issue' being the HMG. With the HMG, you only need to kill off one guy before you can more or less safely run into close range without fear of taking some form of losses.

Considering the armour and health of commandos... That isn't as hard as you'd imagine.

theres alot of "should bes" in COH and EIR, but not always work like that. A response to many of my complaints. Tough shit, aint fair, try new strategies. Far from OP. One dude with a sten. WOW.

I just use a Tiger on them, works fine.

exactly. I can also say oh tanks should fear ANTI TANK GUNS and never take them head on. But in many cases 2 tigers can just go past them and take the hits. Thus is the COH way.

If you want to make it realistic, the 57mm would have a tough time penetrating it at all anyway, and the Tiger would have longer range than the ATG...

Anti Tank Guns still do best vs Tanks.

Flanking Infantry should do well vs an MG team that's not facing them.

Is it a huge deal? No. Is it one of those things that needs to be advertised so players know what to expect, yes.

Well, anybody who has played vCoH more than once will know that commando HMG teams get stens for their spare guys... Such would be emphasised by the fact that stens in vCoH are the only small arm that the Commandos use.

But yeah, if it's necessary, hang a big sign saying oi, they have stens on the spare guys lol.

Except the KCH has 90 health, an MP44 and Heroic armour, while a commando has 65 health, a Sten and Soldier armour. :p

Regardless of this pointless conversation, heres the numbers for your slight OP commando team sten vs MP44 at close range


Sten Raw Close Range DPS = 18.75
Sten affects vs different armours

Infantry -25% damage
Heroic -40% damage, -20% accuracy
Elite -25% damage, -25% accursey
Soldier -50% damage, -25% accuracy

MP44 Raw Close Range DPS = 19.4
MP44 affects vs different armour

Infantry - None
Heroic - None
Elite - None
Soldier - None

Do the math yourself, clearly a single sten does shit for damage, thats why commando squad has 6 of them, and not 3 like a KCH squad.

It doesn't make sense that the commandos have enfields and have to BUY stens, yet the commando weapons crew gets them. All other weapon teams get shit for weapons, you would never expect a weapons team (even AB) to do any damage at all to base infantry attacking. It's not like its sappers or tommies with a sten, it's commandos which are much tougher and harder to hit. I think the commando mortar should be like 10 more mu, and MG should be 20 more to represent the cost of the stens.
