I know I'm new here, mmkay?

I've found blitz assault to be rather ridiculous, especially with its pricing (and resultant spammability). For a paltry 50-60 munitions, volks/grens get 3 waves of grenades, with no max throwing range once the ability is activated. Yes, I understand "zomg noob move away", but when they're throwing 60+ units at my fired-up AB squads, what am I to do?

3 waves of nades is truly excessive. Standard grenades are 35 munitions (pineapple), 30 (incendiary) and 30(?) (grenadier). 50-60 munitions for up to 12 grenades, even if it's only one use, is vastly under-priced, considering the suppression ALSO done by the ability, often rendering your unit unable to move from the remainder if a straggler gets caught while leashing into the squad formation.

Proposal: Reduce grenades thrown to 1-2 per member, alternatively increase cost or limit max # of upgraded squads.

Thoughts?

The problem with assault isn't the ability or the platform itself, but rather the fact you can throw it on every god damned squad.

MG? Assault it.
Mortar? Assault it.
ATG? Assault it.
Elite infantry? Assault it.
Tank? Get the rest of your army which you can easily dedicate to AT to sort it out.

So on and so forth.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

Have you seen what they do when you fire up? They keep throwing, at insane distances, they don't even bother closing in.

Don't play commandos, so can't comment on that.

Assaulting MG isn't cost effective really haha. 20 Mun MG vs 60-50 Mun squad, no, assault is most useful vs BARs and Brens, especially vs BARs. Anti tank guns aren't that good to assault. Also Assault is the best way of dealing with troublesome Airborne and Ranger blobs- also the second cheapest. While assault has its downfall, it also has its greatness. Its a double edged sword.

I also think it might be due to current metagame of all US players spamming BARs and ATGs...

Assaulting isn't cost effective for a direct cost to kill ratio, however the fact that your volks can now man said MG and turn it on them can more than make up the cost.

ATG's get raped by assault.

Rangers/Airborne CAN fireup away from assault, but whatever position you've just left to save said squad(s) is now food for the assaulting squad's support.

Commandos is a single exception to the rule, and that's assuming you've not already popped smoke from the typical hordes of MG's that tend to accompany assault spam.

Leo, your argument is at a bit disadvantage considering not everyone plays Commandoes and can't just "smoke away" at the very instant.


Even with Rangers and Airborne while you fireup, it really doesn't take all that long to hit the ground and hit you.


What makes this ability terrible is that is does damage AND supresses.

Know that Ranger squad that was firing up to get away? Yeah? Well ONE nade hits it, it's supressed, all the others fall on top of it, and the resulting mixture is death to the Rangers.

That's theorycrafting, but I've seen it happen to myself and others.


I believe Smokaz found a way to balance it, saying something that it either Supressed the target, or damages it, but certainly not both.

And if it's gonna do damage, it needs to be toned down a little, and the amount of grenades thrown too.

All Assault needs is it's defensive buffs removed. Then you just kill the assaulters.

the suppression resistance too? cuz it'd still be able to "fire uP" with the nades and hit anything trying to shoot at it

When you see a blank gren/volk squad charging into your front lines, why aren't you moving your ATG's/mortars back anyway? You know what's coming.

Also, assaulting an MG? Your MG should have took out 2/3 men of that gren squad, or 3/4 of that volks squad before it even hurts you, unless you're facing your MG to your spawn to protect the reinforcements =\.
