Graphics is probably the least important factor when deciding what game to play. No matter which one you decide to play you'll get used to the looks.
"LOL is too cartoony" or "HON is too dark" now that's just bullshit, please stop bringing that up.

I was the same way with LoL. had you started with HoN and tried LoL you'd say the same thing.
I don't like the rune pages in LoL and having to level for certain skills. (Flash is stupid broken OP on some heroes and super useless on others) Theres just too much extra shit in that game where you can mitigate weakness and bad skill. (A rune page of energy regeneration lets you kill creeps with Skills all day long and target heroes every time they come in range with no actual cost to you)

I think both are going to be hard for someone with no prior experience with DOTA based games either way. Once you get the hang of it though, it's immensely fun. Too bad it's so team based. (i.e one or two bad players or an AFK can ruin your game experience)

It does matter to be honest, I have a much harder time recognising champions in HoN than I do in LoL, because of the art style/graphics. Shit also gets a lot more confusing in teambattles imo.
Believe me, this is just a question of getting used to it. On my initial switch from DotA to HoN I had no idea wtf was happening. Now, recognizing heroes is not a problem, though they are trying to make it harder with all the skins they're making (worst idea ever). Team battles can still be chaotic, but that's more to do with gameplay and game pacing than graphics. But come on, lets not turn this into a HoN vs LoL thread. |

Yeah, AFKing and leaving aren't punished enough. Especially that if you leave at the start of the game, in (from my experience) 80% of games people will remake. No leave for you!
Bad players can be frustrating, but whiners and assholes are much worse.
I probably wont start HoN til friday =)

The only thing that I really liked about Demigod was that it didn't look like shit like all the other MOBAs. I can't say for sure about HoN, but in LoL and DotA the abilities, effects and characters and environments looked awful and underwhelming. Too bad Demigod sucked.
