As of right now, I dont know which is worth using. Yes rangers are by far a superior platform, but they EAT munitions that the infantry company cant very well hope to fight without. Grease Guns are half the cost of Thompsons, and their platform occupies less pool and population, not to mention the fact that it can be fitted with sticky bombs. Rangers are tough mo-fos but cmon, having any more then 4-5 in a company practically gimps it in terms of the pool, manpower, and munitions they eat up.

So, my question to you guys: Which is better/more cost effective/worth using?

Rangers are good to have in your starting call-in but other than that they are rarely cost-effective.

i personally never found smgs or assault rifles all that useful unless paired with something else that provides long range suppression and/or damage.

1 smg ranger + bar rifle = win
smg anything + hmg = win

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

Only if you clump your riflemen in front of the HMG....if you do that you fail. Let one rifle squad take the suppression as you flank, only 1 BAR squad needs to live to make your costs.

BAR's do not wtf-pwn everything.

I mean, watch them try to kill Falls with the right doctrine choices, 'tis full of lulz.

They pretty much face roll everything else though. Well, not assault either, but now I'm nit picking.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

Ofc BARs roll everything. I have enough BARs in my company, id like to use SMGs for lulz. Thanks for the replies; Grease Guns are generally better.

You can, cost for cost, faceroll FJ. Assault is trickier, keep a building nearby, jump in, jump out, lol. Or a HT...or just run and block with an M18....

of course if were playing like you and retreating at the drop of the hat. But if you save fireup to get back to a triage, rangers become fucking epic.

i havent tried this myself but i want to try it.

Top and mid T3, buy triage, rangers, first aid, stacking shells, and officer/howie.

Buy first aid for all your rangers, get smgs on them. you'll have ranger squads with extra sight/detection, +30hp, 5 thompsons/3 first aids , and the ability to revive guys, if you use your triage constantly and keep your officer around to drop smoke so you can use the revives your ranger squads should more than make up their use.

use stacking shells to save your muni, in my current set up stacking shells saves me at least 130mu, because i buy two uses and have 2x call ins of atg/mg that i use stacking shells with. and if i have captured atgs, then i get those bonus stacking shells as well, which is like getting 40-80 free mu.

But i dont know how well the new revive system works, and if your guys get gibbed by explosives then that hurts.

rangers are arguably easier to keep alive. They also do a lot of damage with thompsons and have great health and armor. Rifles are great because they're spammable and cheap.

Rangers > SMG rifles. Survivability, plain and simple. Fire up should be used defensively, keep the unit on the field as long as possible. SMG rifles DO have the advantage of spammability and stickies, but they're just so squishy.

Rangers have Fire Up, which is all-important on any assault troop. That's why I find KCH so laughable in most situations: sure they're tough as nails, but the moment they get suppressed, or into any other sticky situation, they have no means to effectively escape.

Rangers also have higher HP than Rifles, and Elite armor, which mean they take only about 50% damage form small arms.

The reason Thompsons are so expensive is because they can still kill effectively while moving, where as Grease guns have to stop moving to be effective. Thompsons have a .5 moving accuracy modifier, while MP40s (which the Grease gun is based on) have only .2, so that explains that.

Tried this, I find SMGs not good enough. They dont kill that much, and they have to get close, this means you will take casualties a lot. Being able to stand in cover with other units is so good.
