Just wanna know the stats before i go WTF.

Had UNskirted P4s Pennetrate a pershing more than it Penetrated them. 

Don;t know why, And no Doctrine unlocks.

If it can;t penetrate a P4, i don;t know why its so expensive.

I just peaked at the numbers, no math, but if you were fighting a skrited P4, id say the chances of a penetration are 80%. You just got unlucky.

I also had my Tiger Ace with AP rounds fail to penetrate pershing like 5 times in a row...

As I understand it, stats in CoH/EiR are entirely based on probability. If your Pershing failed to penetrate, it was a matter of shit luck and very little else. I've ran down a 90ish% health pershing before with a pair of skirted vet 3 dual blitz T3 P4s with wonderful success (only half health off one and like 25ish% off the other), and I've had a vet 2 Tiger swarmed by triple no vet shermans and get anally fisted. Matters of luck and poor planning on the part of my opponent and myself respectively both times.

That's just really bad luck man. I have had the same problem with pershings before though where they just don't seem to do anything. But at the same time I've gone up against pershings with panthers and had them do pretty hefty damage (w/o hvap rounds) so bad dice rolls buddy.

Just so you know, here are the statistics:

PIV against Pershing:

Short range - 0.3252 (32.52%)
Medium range - 0.2956068 (29.56%)
Long range - 0.261786 (26.18%)

So assuming they are at long range and have no vet, they have just over 25% chance to penetrate you. Theoretically speaking, yes, they could get a few penetrating hits in a row if he is having a good day or you a bad day. Also, that vet 3 PIV will get 20% more penetration knocking it up to 34.41% at long range, and up to 39.02% at short range.

In comparison here's the Pershing against the PIV:

Short range - 0.8608 (86.08%)
Medium range - 0.81776 (81.78%)
Long range - 0.77472 (77.47%)

By the way, Skirts dont make a blind bit of difference for the penetration, they just make the Pershing do 0.9 damage instead of 1. So yeah, you were just really unlucky as all hell.

By the way, if you want to rape armour, roll HVAP. 2.648 penetration modifier against PIV's mean you physically cant bounce at any range. A curious little note is that HVAP kicks up penetration against Tigers from 0.5, to 1.093, meaning the only place you can bounce a vanilla Tiger is at max range. :p

Quite a lot.

Goes from 5 down to 3, and the short range splash area is halved from 1 to 0.5.

You kick your ability to gib half a squad squarely in the nuts.

Alright, here's the splash numbers for you, the numbers in brackets are the damage modifiers for being in this range.

By the way, long is the maximum range of the splash, so the HVAP Pershing has a total area of 3, but it'll do increased damage as you close into the epicenter of the hit.

HVAP Pershing:

Long: 3 (0.2)
Medium: 1.5 (0.35)
Short: 0.5 (1)

75mm Sherman:

Long: 3 (0.35)
Medium: 1 (0.5)
Short: 0.25 (1)

76mm Sherman:

Long: 1.5 (0.35)
Medium: 1 (0.5)
Short: 0.25 (1)

In a nutshell, the HVAP Pershing has equal to the total splash radius of a 75mm Sherman, but Pershing has twice the short range splash (Where full damage will be done). At a glance, it seems like your still getting a pretty solid deal, which you are, but compare it to the standard Pershing splash:

Long: 5 (0.2)
Medium: 2.5 (0.35)
Short: 1 (1)

Essentially, your cutting the Pershing's AI efficiency in half. Funny that half the Pershing's efficiency is still about as good as a 75mm though.

Funny that a Pershing cost is double that of a Sherman. But your right. You are paying for a better platform, and if you use the HVAP or the regular is entirely your choice.
