Bear in mind this was like a month or so ago

Mister Schmidt: Heyyoo,

Tank130: lol

Mister Schmidt: Where'd your name come from?

Tank130: Nothing to do with the game tbh
Tank130: the day I got the game, I bought a 130 gallan fish tank
Tank130: hence tank130

Mister Schmidt: Oh! I think most people would have thought it was after the combat variant

Tank130: ya, well, I'm not that creative
Tank130: lol

Mister Schmidt: That's cool, I'm not even sure where my name came from..
Mister Schmidt: How did you find EiR, and what caused you to stay for the long haul?

Tank130: My wife got VCoH for me for Christmas when it forst came out. It is the only Computer game I play. I became instantly addictedto it
Tank130: Wildsolous and VictorTagrget turned me on to EiR
Tank130: VictorTarget*

Mister Schmidt: As for being a part of the development team, everybody knows that you donated rather generously to EiRRMod, but a lot of people misunderstand the reasoning for you being on the dev team. Having been behind the scenes myself, I know that you actually
Mister Schmidt: (more coming)
Mister Schmidt: do a lot of work for the mod, what really inspired you to get behind the scenes and help out so much?

Tank130: I can really see the potential for this mod. It has so much room to grow and so many possibilities for advancement.
Tank130: as well
Tank130: I could see the team really needed somone to try and get it organized in an efecient way.
Tank130: more..
Tank130: I really like EiRRMod personally (we have spoken on the phone a number of times - first time I called him it kinda freaked him out....lol
Tank130: Anyway

Mister Schmidt: Bromance?

Tank130: I new they needed a hand financially, I love the damn game, and I get to play for free
Tank130: so why not help out fiancially, because I can
Tank130: Bromanc?
Tank130: wtf is that

Mister Schmidt: A romance between two guys
Mister Schmidt: Bromance
Mister Schmidt: Tongue

Tank130: oh....lol
Tank130: I wouldn't say that
Tank130: more of a businessmance

Mister Schmidt: Keep it professional Tongue

Tank130: EiRRMod is a very talented man, but it too friendly
Tank130: he lets too much bullshit go on
Tank130: he is the first to admit his weakness in that regard

Mister Schmidt: I guess everyone has weaknesses
Mister Schmidt: Anyway,
Mister Schmidt: Obviously we're all grateful for your donations to the mod,
Mister Schmidt: Without them, it most likely woudln't still exist, and yet
Mister Schmidt: How do you react when you see people say that you "bought your way in"? We both know this isn't true, but it must be very frustating?

Tank130: It is very frustrating. But then I have to remind myself that I am dealing with a lot of younger people who just donlt understand the reasoning behind it. EiRRMod did make a post not long ago putting a certain member in his place for trying to call me ou
Tank130: out on it

Mister Schmidt: I think we both know who that is

Tank130: yes, he is currently enjoying a vaction from the mod
Tank130: the truth though
Tank130: the people who tend to accuse me of buying my way in do it because they have nothing else to bitch about me on
Tank130: I accuse my self of sucking in game
Tank130: I call myself old
Tank130: what else is there for them to troll me on

Mister Schmidt: It's fair, if you own up to your own, I won't say faults, but differences maybe, then people can become desperate for insults

Tank130: yup, that's it in  a nut shell
Tank130: I also tend to lecture too much, so people want to insult me....lol

Mister Schmidt: Well I don't think lecturing is too bad
Mister Schmidt: As long as it's warranted
Mister Schmidt: How is development at the moment? Will we see a warmap coming this christmas?

Tank130: That is a very hard question to answer.
Tank130: I kno wit is EiRRMod's intent to get it out very soon
Tank130: In fact
Tank130: the alpha has been in the SDT for over a month now
Tank130: the real problem is we only have one guy working on it
Tank130: and that can not change
Tank130: it is his project and he is the only one that knows wtf is oing on with tit\

Mister Schmidt: Is that due to technical restraints or a personal desire to keep it to himself?

Tank130: completely technical I beleve
Tank130: of course
Tank130: there is a threat of people stealing his work
Tank130: but we have not had anyone that is capable of doing it to ask
Tank130: he works 2 jobs and has a kid
Tank130: EIR is not his priority

Mister Schmidt: I don't think many people knew that actually, that's interesting

Tank130: I think

Mister Schmidt: And that's understandable, completely, for him to have done even this much off his own back is remarkable

Tank130: too many people think that the Dev team is a group of people in an office that come to work everyday to build this mod

Mister Schmidt: Well ideally, that's what it would be, and I expect what half the members would perhaps like

Tank130: we would like that too....but then this mod would not be free

Mister Schmidt: It is a shame really, the mod is truly great
Mister Schmidt: Nobody can deny that

Tank130: It truly is an amazing peice of work
Tank130: truth ne told though
Tank130: it would be complated much faster, and more correctly if we just shut down the forums and stayed focused on the work rather than all the insults and troll posts
Tank130: it takes so much resourses sifting through the bullshit to find issues

Mister Schmidt: I think though, that for many people this isn't just a mod, it's a community of people, friends even, and I believe people would miss it if that was the case
Mister Schmidt: Which brings me to ask
Mister Schmidt: What do you think of the community as a whole? Obviously there are some who try to ruin it for everyone, but in general, are we really all a bad bunch?

Tank130:  Generally speaking, the majority of the community is fantastic. Some good talent inregards to stats, good game experice, and goood thought out posts
Tank130: Unfourtunatly
Tank130: the few bad apples stick out a lot and really ruin it
Tank130: Some of the people who posts the most are the biggest problem imo
Tank130: thats not true
Tank130: I need to word that different;ly

Mister Schmidt: Take your time Smiley

Tank130: the few bad apples appear to make such an effort to derail, flame, or just all around be a pain in the ass.
Tank130: when the train start to derail, the rest just follow
Tank130: My biggest complaint of the community is
Tank130: the lynch mob mantality
Tank130: if something goes wrong, a few will post very neagtively

Mister Schmidt: I think there are certain people who try to round up everybody else when they disagree with something

Tank130: then the rest all seem to pick up thier torches and pith forks and run along
Tank130: exactly
Tank130: you can quote me on this, " Does nug actually post anything intellegent?"

Mister Schmidt: lol, I think many people, myself included, have asked that question

Tank130: I am enjoying this

Mister Schmidt: Good Tongue
Mister Schmidt: Where do you see yourself (in relation to the mod), and the mod, in a years time?

Tank130: hmmmmm
Tank130: I am feeling a little discouraged at the lack of production currently
Tank130: I know how to fix it, but it all hinges on that one man
Tank130: I can not force him to do anything, so we are at his merci so to speak
Tank130: merci (sp?)
Tank130: lol

Mister Schmidt: Mercy* Smiley

Tank130: I am also a little discouraged by the spam in game
Tank130: spam and stomps
Tank130: this community will never grow at a strong rate if we do not start to get ahold of it
Tank130: the problem is, people abuse the abilities ingame because they can
Tank130: that is our job to fix it
Tank130: but it is hard  to fix without pissing off some people at the same time

Mister Schmidt: I think some people do it to help raise awareness, but others literally do just because they can do it

Tank130: but unless we take steps to make this a little easier for noobs, we will not have a player base ina year from now
Tank130: the old dogs like me will just grow tired and move on to something else
Tank130: I mean old as in how long with the mod

Mister Schmidt: I know Cheesy

Tank130: I do not have the solution, but we need to do something
Tank130: It can not survive with out growth
Tank130: /rant

Mister Schmidt: For certain, the best thing for it is growth and expansion
Mister Schmidt: A larger playerabse would actually help I think

Tank130: A larger player base would slowly weed out the bad element
Tank130: somewhat

Mister Schmidt: Well, more players means more games, more suggestions, and hopefully more helpful people

Tank130: A larger population would stimulate a more proffesional atomsphere as wel
Tank130: the problem is
Tank130: we do not want to advertise until we are in better shape
Tank130: the mod is in too much disrepair at the moment
Tank130: skaffa taking on balance lead is hopefully going to stimulate some changes
Tank130: he has the perfecta ttitude for it

Mister Schmidt: I think Skaffa is definitely a good choice for being BT Lead
Mister Schmidt: In terms of profesionallism, what do you bring from your real-life career to the mod?

Tank130: Organisation, procedures, policies, and marketing stratagies
Tank130: I own a company with over 100 employees
Tank130: it helps

Mister Schmidt: So, you're basically the CEO

Tank130: Eirrmod is my boss and I am his
Tank130: thats the way we see it
Tank130: he wants me here to tell him and his group what the best form of action may be

Mister Schmidt: When you have differing opinions, does it get heated?

Tank130: it never has between EM and I, but it has with others. I have a short temper, so I usually cause the argument to esculate
Tank130: It is hard to direct volunteers

Mister Schmidt: Of course, people will feel that since they are volunteering, if they are not being respected, they will just leave

Tank130: yes, a little of that. As well, it can be hard to motivate them to work harder when members of the community are bashing thier work

Mister Schmidt: Definitely
Mister Schmidt: I can attest to that

Tank130: Of course, **********

Mister Schmidt: I'll remember to cut that part out Tongue

Tank130: LOL

Mister Schmidt: And finally,
Mister Schmidt: If the mod died tomorrow, all production stopped, everybody quit, what would you do?

Tank130: Spend more time with my wife
Tank130: seriuosly

Mister Schmidt: Be a normal person then

Tank130: I would ask EiRRMOd's permission to try and find someone else o take it over
Tank130: I am a workaholic, so normal is not going to happen anytime soon

Mister Schmidt: I guess your wife can always hope

Tank130: Everytime she complains about me playing or working on the mod, I remoind her that she baught it for me

Mister Schmidt: What's her reaction?

Tank130: she's cool with it. As long as I keep a little balance in our life
Tank130: but
Tank130: if my secretary new I was doing this right now instead of actually working she would give me a fuckinglecture and a half.....lol
Tank130: She scares me more than my wife tbfh

Mister Schmidt: But surely the beauty of being so successful is that you can do what you like now Tongue

Tank130: true, but people rely on me to get shit done, so I do have to prioritize........most of the time
Tank130: a little me time is goood to

Mister Schmidt: Always Smiley
Mister Schmidt: I think that'll do, thank you for your time!

Tank130: thanks for asking me. this was fun

This was great! Really fun read, I can't wait to read the other one.

It really gives you some insight, and to be honest, makes me feel like a dick for the times when I bash something or don't appreciate it, it's very easy to forget that the mod is free and people volunteer no matter how many times we are reminded.

Also to be honest, I would totally buy the mod if it was for sale. I believe I've donated about as much money as CoH originally cost me. If EIRR was something I had to pay for month to month, I'd probably get a 1 year subscription =D
