The new engine allows for new features - snow being one of the most talked about. But it also allows tanks to slide on ice. SLIDE ON ICE.

I have seen the Interview in a Announcement at Gamereplays.org and it sounds really awesome.

But I hope the new line of sight system will not be so hard limited as in Man Of War. (I'm still a bit afraid of it)

Point is, their mod has an expiration date now. We'll make EIRR for CoH2 if they give us the tools to do it.

CoH2 Eastern Front Mod.... yeah lol.

Nah, now they just have to make CoH2: Western Front.

I'm happy to see the game come out, but I don't expect it to do anything that isn't being done already. Better LoS should help with ambushing and such.

I too have my doubts about how great it will be...  After playing Men of War and now Wargame: European Escalation its going to have to do a lot to impress me.  (though the latter is more macro than micro when compared to COH/MOW).

I'm not much into base building RTS games anyway as I want to worry less about the economy and focus more on the battle.  And I really laugh when I see statements like this: "You don’t always have to build in the same order. It’s always dynamic based on what your opponents and teammates are doing."

The additions I've heard about are cool, but aren't really that impressive...

* New LOS Engine.
* Commandeer tanks if you can force occupants out.  This could be done in EIR right now with scripting.
* Bound over cover.

I have no idea why people have jumped on the doom-prophesying bandwagon for Company of Heroes 2, if it's even marginally better than the original it will be great, and I highly doubt it will be only marginally better.

fldash, there are way more features than the examples that you posted.

Thanks for the link to a list of them... I excluded graphics improvements because they don't affect the gameplay which is what really matters.

I read all the preview articles and those are the main ones I noted...

COH2 will be a great game, the first one is great still.  But it's not going to be revolutionary...

We don't need something revolutionary, nearly six years have passed. We simply want more tbh.

Agreed.

Revolutionary can wait for a new series. Right now its a good system, every time companies try to get revolutionary with an old system(that works) you get things like command and conquer 4 and dawn of war 2.
