I don't know how many of you are familiar with Natural Selection, it was one of THE best mods for HL 1 at the time and they have been working on a sequel (on their own engine) for the last few years. Basically it's aliens vs marines, with both sides having a 'commander' who plays the game in RTS mode. They're planning on releasing this Summer, but you can already play the game if you pre-order. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes its setting, or just wants to try out an AMAZING multiplayer game. (Nuclear Dawn is similar in concept but it's a joke by comparison to this really, it has so much more depth and feel to it)

(35 dollars may seem like a lot for an indie game, but it's really a priceless gaming experience. Even more so if like me you played the free NS 1 mod for so many years anyway. I've already clocked in at 100+ hours of multiplayer, even though the game is by no means complete yet.)

Keep in mind it's a beta, performance on their new engine is still lacking at times, especially for lower end machines (you need a good CPU) but they're going to have some significant performance increases over the next few patches. For NS2 this also means some of the game's features are a lot less 'set in stone' than you would expect. (They like experimenting with new things, some features are still subject to change over time, etc though obviously the core principles remain untouched) Additionally, what's even more amazing about this game is how the developers interact with their community on a daily basis, you can just mail the game director ideas and questions, forums always get a lot of dev responses and there have been a lot of changes based on community input.

Lastly, it's going to be on the Steam Workshop, so expect lots of mods and maps. Full integration on Steam also makes it very easy to install and play.

Let me know on Steam (Unkn0wn_) or here if you're getting it, we can get some games going and I can answer your questions.

It was admittedly conceived of before NS.

However, NS took off more than it and Tremulous was relegated to the shadows.

Making me wanna reinstall HL1 and the original NS tbh. Had some epic times on it.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

And NS 2 has been in development since when? Many years ago I was excited about NS2. After a couple years I looked back at the project and realized that the development team was using valve time.

Funding says no.

IF I had funding, I would have pre-ordered it quite a while ago tbh.

Well, who cares, what matters is that they'll get it done and you can already play it! They're a 10 man game studio and developed a game from scratch on their own engine, it's only normal it's taking so long. (Compared to blizz taking 12 years do deliver D3... which then turns out to be crappy)

It does matter, the game has been in development for about what, 5-6 years? Your being a fanboy with your defense of the game. Everyone knows thats a bit too long, and saying "well blizz takes longer" is just a lame excuse for developers to be more lazy. And you say tremulous "looks lame" even though that game ironically is NS's big brother.

Played the beta when it was first anounced. Not my game. Didn't play the first mod, but still, the lag and all was so bad, i mean yes, its a beta, but damn.

I was just kidding, lol. NS 1 is free too, but both those games are SUPER OLD, personally I wouldn't really want to play either anymore because of it (I doubt there's even active servers for them any more)... I'd gather, like me, somebody would actually want to play a game a little more recent. And in that sense, there's very few games like NS 2 on the market.

be more lazy
I think this is the wrong attitude, in the case of NS 2 it's hardly been a case of the developers being lazy. They were only a 6 man studio until recently, and they were short on funds before pre-orders, so you can imagine they've been stretched on resources (while trying to developer an A class engine, which granted was probably overly ambitious and their biggest mistake). I very much doubt any of them doesn't work 6 days in a week, given how much time they spend on developing and testing the game. (It doesn't help that they sometimes end up 'reverting' design decision, forcing them to re-develop something that was in game and working, but if it makes the endproduct better, I think it's only for the best)

Anyway, it's a long development cycle for a NORMAL game yes, but for a small indie company that is being overly ambitious it's only normal Tongue. And I rather they take a few extra years and deliver a worthy sequel than end up with just another disappointing sequel.
