While it humoured me, Aero's rage post made me think - Would it be a stretch to implement a clickable ability to switch the targetting priority of your units from tanks to infantry and vice-versa?

There are times when you'll be wanting to turn infantry chunky rather than taking a shot at their armour, such as when Shrecks or Zooks are on the prowl.

From a coding point of view, duplicating each weapon just with different priorities should do it. No need for a reload cycle or cooldown etc, just a nice clean switch of targets.

If I'm trying to reverse my tank and kite some handheld AT, but my Pershing decides to look over at the Puma rather than the Shreks, that's not a failing on my part. That's the AI derping out on me. Same thing if I've just got the flank on an ATG and a wild piece of armour distracts my tank and makes my epic flank and circle-strafe of the ATG pretty pointless.

Or failing that, just have the button turn all priorities equal. The unit targets whatever you've clicked as long as it stays in range.

The button should have a picture of the table flipping meme as it's icon, due to the whole context of flipping your priorities.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

You mean like...3 tabs?

Infantry, Support weapons, Armor? And which ever is toggled will have the highest of priorities?

Basically.

Just imagine how switching between HE and AP rounds on USK Shermans/Pershings currently works.

Wouldn't need support weapon specific priorities... If you prioritise infantry and manually click on a support weapon, it should keep the focus on that particular team until you move out of range. I think.

Cheesy
After enough throws one has to hit eventually right?  Wink

All medium/heavy tanks should just get AP/HE toggle like the ace has tbh, there you can also tie in weapon priorities no? Smiley
(Of course, TD's and LV's would just have their AP/HE respectively)

I like the idea but...

It will be a lot of work because it's necassary to create 3 wapeons with 3 different target tables and link these guns to the corresponding vehicle.  After the first implementation this tables needs to be reworked and get fixed again.. .

Damn, Hicks. You are starting to sound like a Priority Lead. If you turn any more useful or productive now, we're going to have to rename you Unknown2. Make sure you don't pop out too much ideas though, or you'll outshine the moose head.

as for the idea, it is great. greater unit control = a good thing

imagine being able to kite some storms or shreks with your sherman without being foiled by armored car, puma  or a ostwind (which poses no threat to your sherman)

the question though is, how many tanks would get it? just mediums? do panthers get it since they're mainly AT yet are used to snipe infantry, tigres, king tigers, etc.

but i agree it would be nice. One is HE rounds, the other are AT rounds, if you fire with AT, you get no splash, if you fire with HE, there' splash but with limited penetration.

this is one of those awesome ideas that just plain wont see the light of day because the amount of work and the low priority of it.

Actually this is ALL rgd and not SCAR. That means EIRRMOD would just need to say "yes, i would like this" and Leophoneme could do it if he had the patience. There are other rgd guise that could help as well

all guns who had lv penetration or above would  obv benefit from it

It's a pretty simple thing to do actually. It's literally just copy pasta. A few changes here and there with numbers and done.

It'll just take time as it's changing all the weapons....

It's not that hard, but probably not optimal and prone to bugging out if a mistake is made anywhere. Much easier thing to do (and something that's been argued for absolutely AGES ago) is to simply set all base priorities for tanks against all targets to 50-60. They'll automatically shoot anything in range (unless hold fire is used), but actually keep targeting whatever it is you told it to shoot as long as the ordered target remains within a feasible line of attack.

I would like for sniper to be No. 1 at target priority for most stuff, except dedicated AT things. Just gotta love when you are pursuing him,and your things decides to shot something else  Roll Eyes

I know it can't be done, but if you could have things like in Dragon Age,where you could give 'scripts' to each npc about target priority, that would be so awesome. You could have units 'designed' with your strat in mind, heck, you could even rely on them to do something when left alone.

In a sense this sounds highly interesting but.

The only two tanks who'd benefit greatly from it would be cromwell and P4. Both of them are basically infantry hunters with medicore anti tank capalities. I could include Sherman 75mm too.

Also Light vehicles but if I know right Light vehicles already have high priority vs infantry rather than armor.

Anything that charges through lines to kill that ATG or kill that running infantry target.

Tanks/Vehicles that could benefit from this (Not exhaustive, off the top of my head):

Tiger
KingTiger
Panther
PIV
StuG
Hotchkiss Variants
Churchill MK VI
Cromwell
Staghound
Stuart
Pershing
Sherman
Greyhound

Yeah. A few would benefit from this.
