i'm talking dual role. hetzer is mainly a tank hunter that snipes infantry but can't kill more than one at the same time, same with jagdpanther but stuh is not dual role, it's role is to kill infantry. The king tiger can take out 2-3 guys if it hits, theres no tank that has range higher than 40 that can take on both tanks and infantry like that.

Tym, you know that a StuG can take out a WHOLE squad of rangers with just one shot? So can any tank with high enough damage to do it. They can all take out a whole squad of infantry with just one shot. Jagdpanther is pretty much what you described. A tank that can take out both targets, so is panther as 8th mentioned.

What role is King Tiger then? A tank destroyer? No. King Tiger is a unit that can take on everything but lacks speed to chase anything. Both Jagdpanther and panther are capable of chasing armor which is why they are very good at their roles and which is why panther was nerfed in terms of infantry accuracy. King Tiger can engage but it can not chase, oh of course unless your tank has a engine damage on it but in any case it would've been dead now wouldn't it?

So my point of view is this: King Tiger, battlefortress meant to breakthrough lines and engage any target which is sent against it. Major drawback is its pop, ammounts of resources it costs and its slow speed.

FYI, the KT has an effective kill zone of 2 CoH units with it's splash against Allied infantry of any description.

For comparison, the Pershing has an effective kill zone of 1 CoH unit, and the Sherman has 0.25.

By kill zone, I mean the radius where infantry caught in it WILL be killed. The wounding radius goes quite a bit further.

Upping the accuracy of the KT is a dangerous prospect when it is capable of outright killing 4-5 men of a Rifleman squad consistently when they are in standard formation or behind cover upon rolling a hit on a squad member. The same applies for Rangers, Airborne, Commandos, etc.

I think it's fair to say that off the top of my head for any DIRECT FIRE tanks (Those capable of rolling hits), the KT has the biggest and most damaging splash of all of them.

Yet a P4 feels more reliable when shooting at inf, heh, I dont doubt what you said is correct but you make it sounds way scarier than it actually is  Wink

That's because a PIV IS more reliable at killing infantry. It has 0.75 accuracy, whereas a KT has 0.4.

However, when the KT hits, it's the equivalent of taking a running start before you hit a peanut with a sledgehammer.

KT splash, assuming it covers the entire 6-man squad upon hitting it (it doesn't) has a chance of splashing onto this many people (not necessarily a kill - just getting damaged depending on splash range):

0 - 4.56%
1 - 18.66%
2 - 31.10%
3 - 27.65%
4 - 13.82%
5 - 3.69%
6 - 0.41%

(Numbers may not add up to 100% due to rounding).

StuH/95mm Cromwell/HE Sherman, on the other hand - all have this:

0 through (squad size -1) - 0%
Entire squad - 100%

And yes, that does mean you will see the KT do fuck all after firing a shot 10 times more than the KT gibbing/injuring the whole squad.

P.S. That is a stationary KT at medium range and below.

Formula is, where:
N = squad size
x = number of squad members splashed
y = basic accuracy of gun vs target
z=basic multiplier that is given by Pascal's triangle (in this case we refer to the line 1 6 15 20 15 6 1) :

z*(y^x)*(1-y)^(N-x)

Simplified for the KT :

z*(0.4^x)*(0.6)^(6-x)
