After I watched one of your shoutcast I fell right in love with flammenwerfers. I saw this trick where you put them in the infantry halftrack and they MURDER EVERYTHING! Now when I did the same trick the halftrack got pummeled and the survivors got slaughtered. Now when I learned my lesson I sent them alone on foot and  these rangers just killed half the squad before i got close enough to burn them. WHAT DO I DO TO PLAY GOOD WITH FLAMMENWERFER GRENADIERS!!!!

"Whatever, I'm still right"

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

Heres a tip. Don't just rush in, scout and wait for an opportunity.

youve got fire use smoke since its not effected by the smoke also means mg will have probs suppresing you, so smoke then rush with them Smiley

First, if I read your post correctly, you are talking about assault flammen grenadiers not flammenwerfers.  Unfortunately you are correct infantry halftrack with assault flammens (some ppl call them dragon hts) can be very effective unless the enemy has nearby tank support or handheld AT.

As you noticed Assault Flammens are vulnerable to small arms fire given the small size of their squads.  You can't expect to take on 2 squads of American infantry be it 10 - 12 pop with just a 4 man 5 pop squad on foot.  You simply going to lose due to focus fire.  Infantry HTs alleviate this vulnerability as being housed in HTs makes your flammens invulnerable to small arms fire and suppression.

Unfortunately handheld AT such as zooks will take down your infantry HTs quickly if you attack directly.  You can beat a single ranger zook squad with your 8 pop (3 pop HT, 5 pop flammen) if you aggressively use the HT to bump the rangers to they can never get a zook shot off.  Unfortunately against 2 zook ranger squads or more makes this increasingly infeasible even with multiple IHTs with Flammens because of the increasing ability for the zook squads to alpha strike an IHT at long range as you add more zooks, increasing prohibitive pop costs to match 13 - 16 pop to match 12 pop,  PE fuel limitations (you really can only fit in so many IHTs before you severely gimp some sort of other capability on Scorched Earth).

Hence it is best to flank with these dragon HTs on soft targets that you know will be unable to effectively defend themselves - infantry with no handheld ATs, lone ATGs, support weapons.  Or sacrifices on priority targets -- kill the ATG that is holding back all your armor.

Unfortunately, on SE your smoke options are mediocre so the use of smoke with dragon HTs isn't extremely effective.  The Hummel smoke barrage is actually more useful in psyching an opponent out, spotting units in FoW than actually covering an assault for example.

it can be incredibly effective if the player can manage to roll up, suppress the squad with the HT and get out and cream them, but like you say, you have to catch them unprepared and with out support. but since it's so mobile its a great way to troll around the battlefield capping territory and taking out random guys that are just holding, unless of course you're up against armor and it could be an m8 or something holding it down.
