So all this talk of minesweeping had me think, why is it that we can only defuse mines?

You've gone through the hard work to actually find and pull those pesky mines out of the ground with your trusty minesweeper, rather than just blowing them up safely from a distance. Sweeping them is rarely needed so long as a mortar, hand grenade or any form of vehicle/tank is on hand that can attack ground.

Aside from the brownie points involved, there isn't much outstanding reward.

So why not re-purpose the little buggers that were used against you?

The mechanics for it would be simple. Sweep a mine, you get +50 fuel. Placing a mine costs 50 fuel to do so. To prevent PE minefields or mass Volk/M10 crippling mines from become potential gold mines, Hawkins/Crippling/Firecrackers would give 10-20 fuel per mine.

The reason for using fuel is so it doesn't interfere with PE's scavenging ability in the Tank Destroyers doctrine.

This would have the two-fold effect of making mines potential double-edged swords instead of total no-brainers (As well as attaching risk to spamming mines) and it would also reward people who take the time to physically sweep a mine rather than throwing the nearest explosive at it.

Thoughts?

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

I would love to be able to do that. Would make people really want to keep mine sweepers

First I was like THE FUUU??

And then I was like, Fucking A!

Great idea, I know some may say its a bullshit cheap unit to counter something so effectivly, well with added feature comes a added cost, but it would be so much better.

Then mines would be a real risk not only a win situation.

This would be very bad. Bad because as far as I know, it's another axis weapon that isn't balanced against axis equipment. For alls I know that should could nuke half a KT's health in one blow because of how retarded self faction balance can get.

It'd also be more work to try and accomplish.

For simplicity's sake, I'd say Tellers either give 50 fuel like normal mines, or 75-100 fuel to reflect that well, they actually cost double the amount of standard mines. Having them just give 50 would likely be safer though.

well clearly hicks, before putting this system in fully all the mines target tables would have to be checked or we could have another issue like fausts lol

Yes Spartan, because they had that foresight the first time they gave Jumbo's Panther armour lol.

The point I'm getting at is it's better to just settle for a simple work around until the nitty and gritty is sorted out properly.

Simple idea with simple usage. It can get complicated later.

Yeah, I know lol. Anyway, back on topic.

Until target tables have been reviewed properly, just have the different types of mines give different amounts of fuel.

Mine placement: 50 fuel

Standard mine retrieval: 50 fuel

Hawkins/crippling/firecracker retrieval: 10-20 fuel

Teller mine/demo charge(If it can work) retrieval: 75-100 fuel

Just have the ability in the construction tab. True, this will allow any minesweeper on the map to place said mines, but it'll also cause a crap load less complications on the coding side for dealing with resources - If I recall.
