Good-ish news. But this worries me.

“Both Dragon Age and Mass Effect started as single games but grew into vast universes. But we aren’t stopping there,”

It almost implies a multi-player game. Hopefully not a other MMO. It also could be a new FPS. After ME1 got done there was a prototype of a FPS . So who knows, I just hope its not a MMO.

I think a mass effect MMO in the vein of Eve Online would absolutely epic.

I'd personally like to see some sort of strategy game made out of one of those series, be it Dragon Age or Mass Effect, RTS or TBS. They both have the potential to bring something interesting to the table.

It's not them who's making the next C&C, it's a company they acquired and slapped the Bioware name on.

When you think of the Mass Effect universe, even looking at some of the stuff you can unlock in the codex, they have a huge database of stuff pretty much already invented in terms of space and technology, I think they could make a pretty compelling game in terms of the hardly explored space and starship intricacies of the ME universe. Could be an mmo (hopefully not), could be an rts, could be a space shooter, who knows, but they have the IP to do so many different things.

Could do a good MMO...as long as they were willing to break the WoW conventions that others refuse too.

If it was skill based, team oriented and allowed everyone to do something on the ship that would be amazing.

I'm thinking Planetside/Eve Online/Star Wars MMO kinda thing.

I'd love if it were dynamic and you didn't have stupid "go kill so many of these" missions.

I'd rather it not be like EVE. I tend to dislike games that are less games as they are part-time jobs.

And now after having had an opinion on both EvE and Achron, we know that Vermillion haven't actually played the games he talks about for the most part, why?

While "Second job" is the poular thing to say about eve, anyone that actually played past the trial knows it's only if you play that specific way it turns out like that, basically... Cram it.

I think that more than anything else, excessive gaming (which I have been guilty of several periods) is a trait of the dysfunctional or the unfocused. I respect people who are adept at managing their usage of time, and even more so those that are able to "relax" in constructive ways through productive activity instead of vapid escapes since after a certain x amount of time, any replaying of one single game is as self advancing as learning to fart the alphabet.

I thought we'd all pretty much agreed that Verm doesn't know much about anything, other than how to use a thesaurus.

I apologize that my different opinions confuse you. As I said, I dislike the game, both from watching gameplay and through firsthand experience. Not very fun when you have to navigate through 4 or 5 menus just to get something done, or make a spreadsheet for your character development if you want to become even half-decent at it. Too much effort for no gain, in my opinion.

And this is where I think you never actually played for more than a few hours at most, the base controls are not actually more complicated and you don't need 5 menus to do anything, for example... To travel somewhere?

Right click object > Move to/Orbit/Warp to/Warp Within xxxx-m

To travel a long distance?

Open Map > Set destination to object/System by right clicking it > Hit Autopilot

To attack something?

Set orbit distance to effective weapon range > Lock Target(s) > Fire weapons/equipment

This is hardly much more complicated than most MMO's, and skill training isnt that much more either, guess what skills improve missile launchers? Skills in the missile tree! It is deeper than most MMO's for sure, and with depth comes more layers to learn, but it is hardly that much harder to play at the core than any other MMO I've played.

At worst, to figure out the max range of a missile you have to calculate Max velocity + Flight time, say... 8600m/s x 8.70s = 74.8km effective range, and even then the game has a built in calculator if you really need it.

Once again, too much effort for little gain. If I wanted to do math, I'd go work overtime. As it happens, during my leisure time I try to accomplish just that - leisure. EVE is, once again, in my opinion, not the most fun game out there.

For someone claiming to have such a high IQ and being so smart, one would think that doing a simple multiplication would be a piece of cake. Describing it as something that would require effort does call that into question, lol

It's not a question of how much effort it requires, it's the fact that it requires effort. There is, in my opinion, no justification for performing menial tasks in order to gain a less proportionate amount of enjoyment from what is supposed to be a leisure activity. I have precious little free time in life, especially these days, and thus when I do get the chance to enjoy myself and play a game, it certainly won't be one that I must continually work at in order to gain a fraction of that labour as enjoyment. You probably don't understand this, being pasty, fat, and likely unemployed.
