Older gamers and the 100% complete

I was just wondering anyone else who is let's say 22+ (though I'm sure some people younger may have started doing this already as well) when did you reach the point of saying "fuck 100% complete" ?
You know what I mean, remember when you would play a game when you were younger and would not leave any stone unturned, if you beat a level and at the end didn't get the A+ , 100% , all secret items found, you would turn around and play it again? Or maybe instead of instantly selecting the "hard or hardcore" setting when you start a new game, you just keep it on "normal" you know you have the SKILLS to beat it on a high difficulty setting, but hell you have a job, a gf/wife, and other things to do, you just want to play the game, enjoy the story, and move on to the next game you don't really have too much time to play.
At what point did you realize, aw man, I can't spend 6 hours every day playing this game, but it's so cool I just want to beat it!
It just hit me when I was playing Sniper Elite V2, although I DO have the realism setting on (it's a game about sniping, better make the sniping as gratifying as possible!) but after I beat the first level I noticed I missed some things and could of done better, but on I went to the next level.

I actually think its the quality of the games these days that has done it to me. Some games i just couldn't give a crap if i beat it 100% as long as i get through it once, but then comes along a game like Arkham Asylum and City and I just gotta do everything.

i honestly never finish most games.
after a while too repetitive.
I think open ended games are the worst for me. GTA, AC, Elder Scrolls, etc just get me side tracked then i get bored.
So rarely do i reach 100%. Especially since some games now in days have it so you if u fail something or do something else you never will reach 100%

I'll play through games on the hardest/second hardest difficulty on my first play through, but It's extremely rare that I'll achievement hunt.
If I do, It'll only be spur of the moment stuff for a lot of the time which then snowballs into me wanting to finish what I've started.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.

It's never been about 100% complete for me. I finish playing games when I feel they have no more to offer me, and rarely do I strive for achievements or trophies on purpose. I find in general that the collectibles and etcetera that developers put into the game do nothing more than attempt to provide an artificial extension to the game's effective lifespan.

i only do it if in process of doing that it lends more to the story or is fun.
like fallout 3, i still haven't 100% that and i dont think i'll try lol but just playing through it and doing as much side stuff as possible adds to the story (the story is yours)

"I have proof!"
"Whatever, I'm still right"
Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

I usually play with the highest difficulty level first. The first reason is that because hard in most games really is easy or medium tops. The other reason is because the only way to get better is to challenge yourself. But every once in a while there are those games where the highest difficulty rating is ridiculously hard (like impossible ironman in x-com) and then I pick something easier, at least for the first playthrough.
As for achievements, collectibles and 100% completion I think that is mostly just padding to artificially extend the lifespan of the game. So I usually don't care at all about them unless it's a game I'm really hooked on or it contributes more than normally.
Oh, and when I see those insanely difficult achievements that requires skill as opposed to just grinding I try to get them. Like "Pax Romana Aeternum" for Civ 5, I think there's only one person in the world that has that one and it ain't me

I have rarely tried to 100%, but when I was younger I did try to explore a bit more. But in those days I played on normal first playthrough.
Now I don't search as much, but I always try to beat the game on hard. It just seems to much funner with that extra challenge.
