I'm wondering why you've all had a page long discussion on adding +5 range when I've already said this:
Because we already know that's what needs to be done. It was the exact thing I argued for months ago: keeping the buffs but removing the completely arbitrary and needless nerfs of the autumn 2012 changes to the AVRE. It was argued for days on end until PQ and Alpha completely turned the conversation into an illogical, non-sensical nightmare even though most people pretty much unanimously agreed it made sense.
It's really encouraging that now you're in charge and have a head on your shoulders and have seen the light about the idea they fought so hard against, but keep in mind in all likelihood it's just the FIRST thing that needed to be done to even begin getting the AVRE to where it probably should be.
It's likely that after a peroid of in-game testing with the above change, the AVRE will likely need a few more small tweaks based on how the unit performs afterward.
So that is why we're conjecturing about a +5 range increase. Not because it would take the place of the other change (which is the first and most important one), or even go with it, but because after it is in the testing will likely demonstrate it's still also necessary.
But one small step at a time is definitely way more preferable than to weird "4 step forward, 2 step back, 1 step in a totally new direction" patches that caused this whole problem in the first place.
So for embracing that first kind of balance approach, you are appluaded. (no sarcasm there)
