technically they are transporting troops, why would ANYONE have a halftrack to ferry reinforcements to the front? its insanely pop inneficient, oh and the army is the armor doctrine company based around dub persh with move+fire repair and assault engi+barstickies i ran last war (which by the way did rather well.)

You just supported my argument with this statement. This is where the tank transport would come in, the HTs are insanely pop (and likewise cost) inefficient at transporting so a tank is a good choice to use instead and where this feature would come into play.

Reasons to get troops fast to the frontline? How about setting up in the middle of the map in green cover so the opponent has to fight under your conditions, or rushing an extremely important building on the map? Yeah seems retarded, why would anyone do that?

I've ran a totally mechanised company a few times before as Armour with HT's. Pretty fun to use, and a HT .50cal + A Rifleman squad actually puts out a pretty neat amount of damage to anything but upgraded infantry.

damn they are that good ?

He forgot to mention infinite fire on the move repairs were not abused... not at all...

But it was fun Wink

Yeah, because the HT's survived long enough for a second repair lol.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

Putting in my experience as as modeler and an Animator.

You can technically do it BUT

The NIS files DO have the animations for infantry riding on tanks. BUT They are limited to the vehicle that they were riding on. Example. The British troops riding on the Cromwell, will only be able to ride on the Cromwell, as it's the only tank with infantry animations along with it's own. All animations are controlled by bones, like humans, but are few in number, Usually just to move joints, like elbows legs back and so on. You can, give diffrent models the same animations. But that's where the problem will exists. Giving the cromwell bones and infatry bones, to another tank, won't work. Firstly, the models MUST share the EXACT same bones, located in the EXACT same places. Why? Lets say we have a turet to a cromwell. It's at point 0,0 In the center. Now, say if we took the animation to swivel the turret a full 180, and apply it to say, a Hetzer. Wouldn't work, as a hetzer has no turret. Or WE used it on a tiger. But its bone for the turret was at 0,5. You know what would happen? The turret would jump backwards to the 0,0 coords and hang off the tiger but will do the animation. Or it simply swivels a full 180 around the 0,0 mark doing a circle.

Now, onto other problems. Animation is a bitch to do, it's about an hours work to complete one animation. That could be small. Like a fucking stand to crouch movement. It's fun doing that part. But it's not that. It's setting up the OBJ file with it. All models have a file that has clauses and properties and blah blah blah this and that. Basically, when the game says Infantry crouch in cover A certain clause is met which makes the model crouch. Lets say the game wanted the infantry to fire. There is about 5 or 6 animations to make this work. Horizontal sync, vertical sync, recoil animation, firing animation, i forgot the other 2.

To sum up. You can go ahead and use the infantry riding Cromwell animations and set it up, it would look real nice, i mean fucking nice. Seeing the soldier laugh and shit whilst riding a majestic beast. But only for the cromwell. And they won't be able to fire either. No sir. That would need extra animations and extra Clauses and a ton of other stuff. The Animations for the infantry riding cromwell, will be under a diffrent RGD unit, or will by the the NIS files. Not sure if you can use NIS files whilst the game is controllable. Elitegren will know about that.

Other vehicles? Not a chance in hell. Unless the russian mod found an easier way to do it, someone can try to contact them and ask, and if they have, i may think about doing it for EIRR, or maybe EIRR2. Depending if COH2 is easily moddable or the same as COH1.

Short answer, shit ain't happening. Unless you want to code it yourself EliteGren, it's not. Going. To. Happen.

Moving on, jell-o. Deliberate.
