Good: Christianity has been responsible for far more slaughters and massacres in this world than Islam ever has.

You're joking, right? Have you ever heard of Ottomans? Arabs maybe? Trust me, they killed more people "in defence" of their belief than Christians. Their doing it even now ffs.

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't heard of any crusades for nearly 600 years. You can say that inquistion was a pain in the ass, but in Islamic countries it's no better and what's funnier Caliphate nowadays is no better than inquistion in XIV century. They torture people on the streets and kill them with no fucks given.

Also : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_Muslim_conquests, so you know who started the fight and why.

Tbh it doesn't really matter who killed more or less 500 years ago or so. What matters is that average Christian does not want to apply "Christian law" in someone else's country. Muslims are working on it, making Shariah districts.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_of_sharia_law_by_country

And speaking about Shariah:
"Within Sharia law, some crimes are known as the hudud crimes, for which there are specific penalties specified by Islam. For example, adultery is punished by stoning, fornication and the consumption of alcohol by lashing, and theft by the amputation of limbs."
Something's not right if you think that's all okay.

I'm agnostic, but if any religion wants their law in my country, the only thing I can think of is "get the fuck out of my country". Not saying of all the muslims (most of them are cool, open people Cheesy, especially the ones I've met in Rome), but the extremists are dangerous as fuck.

Perhaps we're all focusing too much on the extreme's of islam just like people sometimes only focus on the extreme's of christianity?

Your joking right? Christians were forcing their religion on people and slaughtering none believers since the 5th century.

Some of the laws currently in place today are still founded on Christian believe. Forced down our throats by Hippocrates hiding behind a bible. No different than the nut balls hiding behind the quaran.

Fortunately, secularism is widespread in Europe, but unfortunately not so much in North America. Check out this document on secularism in Europe. The relevant data is in the appendix on pages 56-63. Also on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Europe
These show that religion is still highly relevant in Poland, for example.

Concerning looking at the whole of the muslim community in a bad light because of their extremists, it has been repeatedly said by moderate muslim leaders in the West that the koran should not be interpreted literally and that it is plentiful with passages that are used to justify extremism.

The real dilemma is not in radical interpretation, it is in radical manifestations on the ground, with religion only as the justifying cause for the realization and implementation of a political system:

There are two basic political systems in the modern muslim world, both of which have been created in the first part of the twentieth century by 1920. The first is the Ba'athist system which leans toward socialism and a command-dictated government and economy, which is exemplified by dictators such as Saddam Hussein, Bashar Al-Assad and his father Hafez Al-Assad, Hosni Mubarak, and to an extent, Muammar Gaddafi. The other is the proto-fascist system of the Muslim Brotherhood which champions religious fascism with the establishment of sharia law as the backbone of society.

The issue against moderate muslims from the West's perspective is that the moderates do not denounce sharia law and a significant portion if not a majority sympathize with it.

Tank, While I hold no love for any religion I hope you realize that most of the current Muslim majority areas on this world were converted by the sword and not by some sort of hippie love circle. You might want to look up what religions people in the now strongly Islamic areas around the Mediterranean areas used to follow before the 5th century and why they don't anymore.

Secondly, one faith follows a warlord leader and his sons while the other follows what is a peaceloving hippie by modern standards. Fictional characters or not, one is probably a better role model than the other. I'd like to point out that the goal of ISIS is to recreate what Muhammad&sons managed to do back then.

I don't like to agree with Gary, but Islam has a very bloody history, they pretty much conquered all the way up to and most of Spain before they were finally pushed back at this battle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Tours. The turks that then became the ottoman empire is also one of the decisive reasons that the last part of the Roman Empire (Byzantium) doesn't exist anymore. Lets not even speak of India, the Muslim caliphates (The Muhgals specifically) were down there and wrecking stuff quite a while before the Europeans showed up.

If we are not going to whitewash history can we at least do it on equal terms instead of just for westerners? I realize some people feel good about apologizing for stuff they were never even alive to be responsible for but it goes to far a lot of times.

As for Trump, at least it was funny before people started taking him seriously.

Hey, that's rude! Are you trying to imply, people don't agree with me most of the time?

Ok, you've got me. Sad

Trump won't win. If media are against someone, he does not win. Just saying Smiley

Muslim men kinda like Shariah law. Raping without consequences, you know. Women must not disagree, they're more like slaves to men, not even servants :/

In the 1970s, wealthy Saudi Wahhabists funded a militant revival that, combined with the Islamic revolution in Iran and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, generated a potent Jihad (or Holy War) movement. The Jihadists destabilized several Islamic countries, ignited many regional conflicts, and launched significant terrorist attacks against the West.

One of the most shocking documents to come across my desk has been the al Qaeda Jihad training manual, which is over 200 pages long when translated to English. They seek retribution and punishment as well as revolution and oppression, and are distinct from other terrorist groups because they don't care if they are negatively portrayed in the media. It reads:
"These young men realized that an Islamic government would never be established except by the bomb and rifle. Islam does not coincide or make a truce with unbelief, but rather confronts it. The confrontation that Islam calls for with these godless apostate regimes does not know Socratic debates, Platonic ideals, or Aristotelian diplomacy. But it knows the dialogue of bullets, the ideals of assassination, bombing and destruction, and the diplomacy of the cannon and machine gun.
The young came to prepare themselves for Jihad commanded by the majestic Allah's order in the holy Koran. Islamic governments have never and will never be established through peaceful solutions and cooperative councils. They are established as they always have been: by pen and gun; by word and bullet; by tongue and teeth. The main mission for which the military organization is responsible for is the overthrow of the godless regimes and their replacement with an Islamic regime."

Actually, I do care - because you fucktards are my neighbors and supposedly our ally. Your Country also purchases a lot of our natural resources, so we are somewhat forced to do business with you. You are asking to purchase our water afterall....

Americans already have a reputation for low education, redneck, gun toting bigots; Put Trump in place as your president and you will just confirm to the rest of the world they are correct.

I have always felt it was a minority of shit head Americans that gave the rest of the country a bad reputation. If those shitheads are the majority that elect Trump I will feel ashamed for you.

This thread has been on the knife's edge of getting locked due to how very, VERY quickly it could turn into a shit slinging fest.

This is the first, and only warning. Discuss the topic at hand, and civilly, or it'll get locked.
