To make the Bren more viable mid-late game, note; if you upgrade to a Vickers, you lose the Button Ability (iirc)

Online

- Refactored host notifications and automatch messages.
- Added user feedback to the Relic Online Account Details screen whenever an invalid input is given.
- A number of automatch related network bugs have been resolved.

Gameplay

- Tuned priority of Bren Carrier weapon and modified Bren Carrier Button ability so that it more reliably shoots at target of Button Ability.
- Increased Radius of Axis Rocket Barrage from 15m to 20m
- Increased Damage of Axis Rocket Barrage weapon from 100 to 175
- Reduced cost of Axis Rocket Barrage by 50mun to 200mun
- Reduced number of shells in Rocket Barrage from 15 to 12. FX changed.
- Reduced delay of Axis Firestorm barrage by approximately 3 seconds.
- Testing glider landing - gliders will land anywhere except enemy territory. Looking at code solution to prevent glider from landing in enemy base sector only.
- British Commando Concealing Smoke and Commando Grenades share timers - abilities cannot be used at the same time.
- British Commando Glider, with the exception of the Glider HQ, will not allow reinforcements or be able to build units outside friendly territory.
- British Commandos cannot capture when using Concealing Smoke. Using smoke while capturing will stop the capture.
- Suppression on some HMG and LMGs increased further vs tp_infantry_soldier.
- Strafing Run reduced in effectiveness.
- Munitions halftrack mine placing ability takes longer but costs 25mun (down from 35mun)
- Axis bunkers gain 300 health when Axis players choose Fortify the Perimeter command tree ability.
- Panzerfaust damage increased vs heavy armour (roughly 50% more damage) and increased roughly 30% vs Light Armoured vehicles
- Panzerschreck scatter tuned - angle reduced from 20m to 15m, scatter offset increased.
- British Lt. Heroic charge duration reduced from 20s to 15s.
- Testing collision issues with team weapons.
- Fixed flamethrower infantry death critical. Critical type now only applies to squad member carrying flamethrower.
- Fixed timing issues and left behind sim-boxes with several smoke abilities.
- Added one more reload cycle to M1 thompson. Rangers would fire two bursts before reloading. Will now fire three.

Holy smokes, a whole lot of stuff in here that affects us.

- Rocket Barrage changed.
- Firestorm buffed (about damned time).
- More suppression changes (only against Soldier Armor though, doesn't affect us yet...)
- Strafing Run changed (Third time in this beta, should be interesting to see the difference)
- Faust buffed heavily. (!!)
- Pshrek tuned (again...)
- Fixed flamer criticals, hopefully will make Engineer/Pios a bit more survivable
- Additional cycle on the Thompson won't be too noticeable, but it will mean that Rangers charging infantry in cover will not have to reload so soon.

Nope, because Relic released yet another patch!

Quote
v2.306 01/25/2008

Online
- Fixed a screen layer issue that occurs when automatch ends.
- A number of automatch fixes.

Fixes
- Items are now transferred to remaining members of a squad instead of dropping them on the ground. If the team is fully absorbed into a team weapon, the items are dropped.
- Fixed AI unit production limit so that certain units won’t be built more than specified amount.
- Added additional unit demand multiplier, which lowers production demand if AI player has the same unit already.
- Ambient sounds now run more efficiently.

Gameplay
- Fixed Hetzer Reinforcement requirements to match squad popcap.
- Commando squad reinforcements cost increased to fix UI rounding issue (UI showed 34, actual cost was 35). Cost should display as 35 now.
- Jagdpanther and Hetzer squad veterancy requirements doubled.
- Calliope rockets do equal damage modifiers to tp_infantry and tp_infantry soldier.
- 280mm rockets tuned vs buildins and British HQs. Damage increased vs British HQs and decreased vs US buildings.
- Ranger M1 Thomspon cooldowns and reloads tuned to decrease damage output.

They are seriously cranking out the patches right now, I hope it continues.

I have a theory that the team automatch beta is just an excuse for them to go back to beta-style balance testing Tongue

No issue with that, things went alot smoother with that way.

They can release multiple small balance changes as fast as possible instead of having a month long QA phase.

They'll still have the QA process once they've finalized the patch; regardless of the beta.

Yes but they'll only have to do QA testing once where as they've implemented a lot of balance patches in the retail, they would've had to send every individual patch to QA testing Wink.

This way Relic is fixing more bugs & balance complaints than they would've ever fixed without a beta, it's great.

Latest patch, huzzah!
Quote
v2.308 01/31/2008

Online
- Fixed a number of issues with tool-tip layers.
- Added "Exit Game" option on the Count Not Verify Media pop-up.

Fixes
- Laying barbed wire should be fixed and back to how it was in vanilla CoH.

Gameplay
- Tuning to British Artillery
- Overwatch artillery projectile speed increased marginally
- Overwatch weapon scatter tuning adjusted - angle reduced, area reduced marginally. Should make for more concentrated effect
- Overwatch recharge reduced. Overwatch used to take 30s to disable itself, now takes 22s.
- Overwatch ability passively reduces the recharge rate of 25pounder barrage abilities
- Creeping barrage has increased artillery rounds incoming.
- Creeping barrage passively reduces the recharge rate of 25pounder artillery barrage abilities.
- British 25pounder rotates faster to make it more responsive during Counter Batttery operations
- British Artillery in Counter Battery mode will fire back at enemy artillery even if it does not damage friendly units
- British Counter Battery should be a bit more responsive.
- British Counter Battery takes less time to disable itself. 22s instead of 30s.
- British Sappers will move at normal speed outside territory when upgraded as Demolition and Disposal Section
- Infantry antitank weapons will do less damage to Flak 88s and Flakvierling weapons.
- Panzer Elite tank traps offer heavy cover.
- Panzer Elite tank traps are buildable as walls. This is for test purposes - the size of the object occasionally makes building walls a little difficult.
- Axis Observation Points receive a health bonus when Axis players choose Fortify the Perimeter from the Defensive Doctrine.
- British Captain's FOO artillery ability is improved. First round lands must faster and is very accurate. That round is followed shortly by 3 rounds and then finally by 5 rounds in expanding areas.
- US Calliope recharge time reduced to 75s

Lots of artillery finetuning.
And yay, they fixed barbed wire! Smiley

About time the sorched earth got a fix!

The booby traps do no damage whatsoever if the enemy watches his troops. :I
