I think the upgun shouldn't cost munis, it should be fuel. its a good upgrade, but allies should only be using their sherman for AI abilities, you shouldn't really be relying on it to take out tanks, you should have 1 or 2 ATGs for that. at least that's the way I try to keep it.

It costs too much in the fact ya, it penetrates a bit better, but it still only will damage 87.5 at most.. thats still on par with the 75mm... now, if it had the same numbers as say the 3inch on the m10 (which it should be imho) 140mun would be legit..

If the cost was too high we wouldn't see all these upgunned shermans running around. It lets you beat a STuG or P4, which means you go repair, and they are dead. Its worth it.

Upgun lets the sherman trash the hetzer, I think if you improve upgun towards too many targets its going to become too good.

I still believe it should go back to fu not mu, it makes more sense in some ways....

btw, I´d like to see aloha and BigDick not able to post anymore some day...it´s a waste of time to read that crap.

True.. but the M10 does almost the same job for 2/3 the cost.

The m10 is a lot better to kill tanks than the upgun.... speed/penetration/damage... only its health is a downside.

140mu is to stop upgun spam, to be honest 140 is ballstothewallgay
Make it 100.

All weapon upgrades (for all tanks) cost munitions which I think is a good idea on the team's behalf, to stick with a uniform policy with weaponry.

I think all weapons/equipment/units should all be competing for resources, the cost of an upgun should force you into a decision between that and alternate spendings of mu. It's when a unit/option is so cost ineffective that it's never used that it's a problem.

That said, I've seen quite a few upgunned shermans recently, as many as I saw in the old EiR so I am not sure if it's that bad. Maybe drop it to 120 and observe the usage, that's the best guide as to how useful something is.

what are you gonna do with 20 extra MU? 100 seems better, at least thats well on it's way to an extra MG/whatever

Because it's not about what else you can/think you should get with the extra, it's what the option in topic is worth.
20 muni price reduction seems a viable test.

I take a single up-gunned no matter what.
I prefer m10s but sometimes you need something that can sit in front of other tanks head on, the up-gunned sherman can do this.

I hadn't even noticed a major change to my setup with it switching over to muni, but to me it makes sense that it is muni like every other weapon upgrade.

by that logic we're going to get nowhere real fast. even small amounts of munitions can change a setup. I know i've frequently been 5 or 10 munitions short of a setup i really want and i have to rework it out of my ideal just to get something in. so saying thats not enough is the worst attitude to have coming into a balance discussion. Sure they could drop it by 40 to 100 but thats probably too much considering it's less then a 57mm. And this dev team isn't relic so they can avoid the "It was over nerfed/buffed"

i was thinking relatively, but it was poorly worded.

20 off 140 is not much, but say 20 off 75 would be a big deal. thats kinda what i meant. my reasoning is, it's so expensive, you never generally buy more than 1, so thats only 20 off overall. however, say with the BAR at 75, if you were to have 20 off of that, say i have 6 in my army (because they are cheaper initialy) thats 120 MU i've saved.

you see what i'm getting at? cost reduction would seem to me be best done relative to the quantity you are goinging to be buying.

Thats what breaks price models though. Costs of things aren't relative to themselves. It's relative to the effectiveness of the purchase and relative to the cost for the rest of the faction

I say drop it to 100 110ish. and we're good. Its effective but not really effective enough because it also cripples you. In vcoh sometimes i wouldn't even upgrade my shermans at all preferring to keep my shermans at 75mm to deal with infantry and use m10's and at guns and stickies for tanks, especially heavies.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

A lot of people are calling in command tanks for americans now. A unupgraded sherman with a command tank in the back KOs a wehr p4 with between 20-40% hp left. With upgun, its not even a contest.

but command tank just speeds up the rof and increases range doesn't do anything for penetration  Huh does that slight rof speed make that large of a difference?

just in rof...but it will kill a p4 faster than normal but its not totally noticable.

RoF = Damage increase.

A Sherman and a P4 are equal all things considered. With a RoF boost the Sherman will destroy a P4 without any effort.

With the Upgun it will destroy a P4 without any effort.

Combine them for more pwn.

Not noticeable? Dude its fucking crazy how a vanilla sherman just gulps down P4Sauce when it has a CCT in the back, especially once the CCT gains some vet.. with upgun its not even a contest
