Curious what kind of company build or doc advantages people use when they choose to run a 75mm sherman. Or if people actually like running 75mm as opposed to the upgun. .

I like the sherman but doesnt really fill the role of a tank killer since semi weak cannon and slow and not that good health or armor. Kind of a jack of all trades.
Upgun helps but you lose soo much splash.

Not bitching, just seeing who likes the splash damage over the upgun

75mm is for fighting infantry, 76mm is for fending off tanks.

I use them. They rape infantry (i emphasise rape) but fail against anything bigger then a hotchkiss. HARD.

I love 'em to be honest. If you have a good anti tank company, like tank reapers, RR's, etc, 75mm shermans can be used as a secondary at, meat sheild and kch killer.

it wouldn't be used offensively, more ina support role.

axis - infantry support tanks
allies - tanks support infantry.

Most opening call-ins use the 76mm Upgun. Yes you lose some punch vs infantry but it allows you to beat P4 and StuG starts to an extent(Micro permitting) and you can keep a Panther start at bay with a piece of secondary AT(preferably zooks)

You might have a company that is heavy on AT assets and thats when I'd take a Sherman 75, help clean up some grens and stuff

just seems much more economical to get the upgun. upgun + .50 deals well enough with infantry and you are set if you are attacked by a tank.

75 just seems like a liability, i feel maybe 75mm sherman should be a separate unit, that's 11 pop, and upgun should add +1 pop.

i feel every time i have a 75 on the field i say to myself, should of had an upgun! whenever i have an upgun i never find myself saying should of had a 75.

75mm is the epitome of awesome if you use Urban Survival Kits. Get it to vet 1 and you've got 27% less incoming damage, as well as the ability to wtf-pwn support weapons with HE rounds.

Slap 3 of them in your company and support weapons will never bother you again, micro and intelligence permitting.

They are also pretty good at handling anything PzIV or below, PzIV lucky penetration permitting.

What Hicks said.  I used 75mm Shermans extensively with that doctrine and they work very well.  I tended to back them up with ATG spam, so they didn't have to worry about fighting enemy tanks.

I read posts that HE rounds were too hard to hit anything. And alot of negative comments about the 2nd advantage row.
Or maybe that was pershing HE rounds?

Ya i want to try HE round specialty, but man oh man i hate heavy tanks. So i stick to HVAP.
But im guessing i can get the HVAP bonus to a sherman 75mm and keep the splash?

I love the Jumbo with TR. Splash, no pussy footing, and can pen a panthers front armor.

i have considered trying TR with jumbo, and rifles with zooks, seems quite effective, but triple BARs, and playing with first aid has been so much fun!

yeah i dont think HE pershing is too useful, but HE shermans were great, you have to learn to attack ground with it, its like using a stuh or 95mm cromwells but better imo.

I don't get why you would want HVAP? All the coca-cola faction needs for AT is already available non doctrinally, 57mms and cheap-ass M10s. That's all you need, HVAP just seems like a gimmick for people who want to vet whore some american tanks and fight armor with it instead of saving the health to kill more infantry/support weapons while 57mms and M10s rape the armor.

Either way HE rounds still good, but the standard 75mm cannon also does its job well. Alot of people use them to screen their RRs from infantry, if you are Airborne you can never go wrong with 2 RRs and a 75mm sherman.

Pretty sure that 75mm Shermans don't get affected by HVAP by the way.

Pershing HE rounds are pretty pointless because the standard Pershing splash is more than good enough without it. The biggest benefit that the Pershing gets from that tree is the recieved damage modifiers. Vet 1 and the 12% less damage essentially kicks up the Pershing's working health to 1275 from 990. That's two more Tiger rounds you can survive.

well,HE rounds are quite nice in urban areas, you can troll pretty much all inf and support weapons and also quite bit of PE stuff over destroyed buildings.
