I'm far more concerned with our failed political system than either individual candidate. We really need to break out of the two party mindset. They don't even let other parties take part in the debates.

Trust me, you don't want this. All you'll get are Nazi-sympathizers all getting their voices heard and respected in politics and then one day they'll set fire to the Reichtag building pull out their swastikas from behind the curtains and start killing everyone.

Not sure if Pony is trolling or not...

The problem with him is that he switches from serious posting to trolling in a matter of seconds.

Since I'm a relative to him I can fairly accurately tell which posts are serious, but I can understand that it's perplexing to people that don't know him IRL.

The thing is I don't want America to be like Britain, Sweden, and Norway. There's a reason why people left those countries to come here in the first place.
Yeah, you know why? Back in the pre-WWI days things were different, as you seem to think you know our history and opinions better than ourselves, should we continue?

I think Pony is emulating faux news, and It's pretty convincing  Grin

That's why I live in America stop trying to make us like Europe you see how that's working out for them.
Also, I do love how some people reefer to Europe as a whole... You know, It's not like Europe is made out of countries some with radically different cultures, languages and social policies. I mean, Greece is totally a representative of the rest of Europe as a whole, yup. It's not like the US is in even more trouble if you look past the lies and massive loans or anything.

Oh wait, where was that report were the US was actually in even deeper shit than Greece again? It was quite a funny one.

All in all, Go Myst Go! You're explaining things without sounding like a poor grammar dick like me! Oh yeah, assault weapons... That's a fun one, I need an assault weapon for... Self defence! Because you really need an assault weapon for that.

Hell, I fuckin' love guns... I've been out shooting in the woods up in the countryside quite a bit with an uncle and if you told me I could buy an MP-7? It would be christmas! On the other hand... Would anyone here feel safer if I could get an automatic weapon? Wink

The thing is I don't want America to be like Britain, Sweden, and Norway. There's a reason why people left those countries to come here in the first place. Second the mortgage tax has nothing to do with bad regulations and everything to do with funding Obama care and the fact that he lies about not taxing the middle class because he is. I'd rather have a successful business person give it a go then a fail president for a second term full of even more fail. The recession back in the 80's was almost just as bad as the one facing us today and let's not forget that government involvement also had a huge part in why this happened in the first place which Mr. Frank had a huge part in. I want to see Romney win as entitlements, larger government, and outrageous spending is just not going to get us there. Mr Obama is a proven liar and hasn't brought the change he promised. He has brought 5 dollar gas prices, added to an already ludicrous debt, made health care cost more and extremely confusing, can't get his facts straight about libya, passes phantom tax on the middle class, tried to sneak through a trade agreement banning all firearms, invest in shady businesses who contribute to his campaign and the list go on.  I'll also restate what I've said before and that's his first two years was DEMOCRATICALLY CONTROLLED, he could have passed shit on a piece of paper as a new law and it would have gone through. I'm sorry if you're all socialist here but I'm not and nor do I ever want to be apart of a country that supports it. That's why I live in America stop trying to make us like Europe you see how that's working out for them.

Epic post.

But wasnt the crisis and George w. Bush the problems leading into such bad situation the USA is in right now? Obama was coming in the position of the president after G.w.Bush was wasting tons of money for war and shit + the crisis.

Personally i feel that Obama is doing a good job out of the situation his predecessor and the economic crisis was giving him. I bet Romney would not have solved the same problems as good as Obama did in Obamas first periode.

What he said. The reason American politicians can ignore what people actually want is because people are loyal to their parties rather than their ideals, it's my party wrong or right. Parties should change their policies to the people not the other way around. Of course I could be wrong but I sincerely hope Americans don't think having only 2 right wing parties is a good idea.

I honestly don't think it matters who gets elected because the other party is just going to block all the legislation. Although having said that Obama seems like he's actually trying to give Americans their basic human rights like health care so go Obama.

Actually that's hardly the case. There's not that much party loyalty in the US political system (Which is expected, the bigger your party is the more likely there will be diverging opinions). If anything, they're loyal to lobbyists, who provide huge sums of money and their voters, though only on a state level. I.e they do what's best for their constituents at home, to ensure re-election and the people funding their campaign and writing legislative proposals for them,  and not so much for what is best for the nation. (Despite it being a NATIONAL congress) This is particularly noticeable in the US senate.

A good example is the cap and trade legislation. Democrats from mining and drilling states are just as likely to block this legislation as republican ones, even though the official Democratic party line is pro cap and trade and for substantive climate change legislation in general.

If party loyalty was really high, the democratic US house and senate would have gotten A LOT more done in those 2 years they had a supermajority. But they didn't, just look at how long it took them to get Obamacare pushed through, and how many democratic congressmen had to be 'bought' by Obama.

Partisanship however IS really running rampant, on both sides, lately and while one would expect that this increases party loyalty, it's certainly not a direct inverse relationship.

He wants to abolish income tax, that's not the same as flat tax.

I agree. sick of having our military everywhere and Europe lambasts us over it and when we ignore something, we get lambasted again.

Just bring everything home, dont give a crap about anything unless it directly threatens our security and let Europe handle their own crap.

Got too leave troops in the pacific or dem communists are going to take over. 60k american troops still in South korea?

American support pulled out of pacific, china will take dem all over. Australia would join to.

As Demon said... Then there is the whole senkaku islands thing the Chinese/Japanese have going (look it up if you don't know). Without the US around there China might get some bad ideas, to be fair, since it's China we're talking about wouldn't be surprised if they tried to pull something anyway.

For those that don't know, a border dispute over some islands are dangerously close to sparking armed conflict, as I said, look it up.

Have you ever been to China? Have you ever read up on China aside from the usual American BS propaganda? It sounds to me like you haven't.

Dangerously close to sparking armed conflict? Let's not exaggerate, lol.

One could also argue that the American presence in the region is causing anxiety with the Chinese people, pushing them in the direction of more spending on military and thus provoking an arms race (To be fair, it's already starting to look like that) I mean how would you react if some overseas neighbour started fielding troops and missiles all around your border? (Same thing that is happening with Iran mind you) I suppose 1962 doesn't ring a bell?

But hey, I guess social constructivism is not for you.

America and China going to war in the next decade is as unlikely as me becoming the president of the United States.

made health care cost more and extremely confusing

Wrong.

The healthcare act (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010) helped solve some of the problems of the US health system. As I work in the field, one of the most useful provisons was the mandating electronic patient records which helps solve the clusterfuck of paper and bureaucracy that comes with the old system of records and actually allows me to pull up a record in a matter of seconds instead searching all day and hoping that the record wasn't thrown away and creates a Nationwide medical record system. Then there was the provison which mandated that all persons had to buy Health insurance and that they could not deny coverage to those which actually helps lower the costs to the tune of 84 billon dollars (Source: http://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/cbofiles/attachments/43472-07-24-2012-CoverageEstimates.pdf) which would usually pass the cost on to taxpayers, and this provison helps lower the amount of people in the ER.

So Jodomar, you don't ya get your facts straight before quoting the Republican Party line?

Why would China go to war? It would not benefit them to attack Japan (a US ally) and it will hurt their and ours (we are their LARGEST trading partner) economic bottomlines.

Do you even know why there is conflict over the Diao Yu Dao in the first place? protip: it's the US

The islands were part of Chinese territory until WW2 when they were conquered by Japan. After the war the US being the victors decided that they didn't like communist China and gave the islands to Japan. This would be the equivalent of letting Germany keep Belgium or something. Doesn't help that the Japanese vehemently refuse to acknowledge their WW2 atrocities which were no less disgusting than the Germans and you can see why China has such a problem with it. I'd say China are being quite reasonable on this issue tbh, they could've made a huge incident of this a long time ago.

Unknown is also right to a certain extent. When the US does military exercises in Chinese waters under the guise of co-operating with Korea you can see why China is so aggrieved about the situation.

Note that this is not to say that China does not have significant internal issues but terms of foreign policy China have been very reserved when they could be a lot more belligerent and get away with it.

Agreed, let the world rot. We should stop exporting our foodstuffs so that we can make more room for internal industry and use our own oil reserves.

Canada can continue to be our hat, and we should annex Mexico and reform that country.

How would America force down Canada though? They'd need someone else to fight the war for the first 3/4, or else they'd get bad publicity and have to pull out with the job unfinished.
