Snow Maps

What are peoples opinions about snow maps?
Do you like them, would you play more if there were more of them?
I personally do not like snow maps. I find it harder on my eyes and not really suiting the game feel. CoH2 works for snow because the units are affected by it and it makes sense.
I find it weird to be playing on a snow map, but the trees and grass look like summer. The roads have no snow either.
Just wonder if it is worth creating one or not.

I think snow maps are awesome. St. Winn is my all time favourite EIR map... after Linden that is.
speaking of which, as map lead can you bring Linden back? It was actually decently popular but Unknown didn't like it so randomly decided to remove it

I like Desert maps...
A mountainy snow map would be cool. Fighting in a valley with a town in the middle and a stream with some mountain passes for flanking. Though, you can do that without snow too.
Tried this, the airplanes for strafing and bombing runs can't figure out mountains. Idea was dropped.

Didn't work for EIR and I removed it, why do you ask? It did become the first custom Panzerkrieg map for vCOH, though unfortunately panzerkrieg didn't receive any future support from Relic so no custom maps or new stuff was added to the gamemode.
Do you think I can not acknowledge if some of my own maps don't work or are shit? Over the course of EIR history I have made several that I later removed. A mapper or map lead who thinks all of or only his own maps are the shining example of what maps should be like is either naive or delusional.
As for Linden, it was in the map rotation for a very long time and it was given many many many chances. It never managed to garner any decent amount of plays so eventually it was removed. It amazes me how out of nostalgia there are always people asking for a certain map to be returned, to then only play it once when it does. (Resulting in its inevitable removal once again, see dawn)

95% Certain I have the SGA for St. Winn.
I'd have attached it to this post, however the filesize is too large.
http://www.gamefront.com/files/22829135/4p_St_Winn.rar
Give it a check, so long as nothing was done to the map before it was taken off, it should be the same old St. Winn.
I also have the SGA for Linden, but that one can wait lol.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.

Just a heads up, everyone has those sga files. You can find them in your EiR Archive folder.
We do not remove the maps, we just remove it from the list in the module so they do not show up.
If you have a group of people who want to play that map, then just make a copy and rename it betamap1. Of course that will over write whatever you had as betamap1 before, but that's probably not a big issue to most. You could also use betamap2

Only people who have played the game for a long time will have it. New players who joined after the maps were removed will not have downloaded the map.

St winn is in the download list, no? Or it's called Foy, either way I never removed it so it should be in the list. Also when maps are removed they were also removed from both the download list (for new players) as well as from the module. (Though yes, veteran players will still have these maps in their archive folder)

Well problem solved from the Dev departments end of things.
It is only the old players who want to play these maps for nostalgia and they have the maps. If they want to play them they can host them on a upload site for others.
Unless another Dev wants to take on the work load that is......
Edit: That didn't sound right....... The maps were removed at whatever time they were removed because they were not being played. If we add them back in, they will get a couple of plays just cuz they are there and nostalgia is fun. Then everyone will go back to nueville or whatever flavor of the day is at the top.
That being said - if any community member wants to start a place where all these old maps are stored, fly at it. I will sticky the thread in the map forums.

I dont even know why u remove maps anyway. I mean one is about 10mb average. And pls dont tell me u care about players harddisk space or the module file gets too big coz of some extra lines of text.
