well im banned from balance so posting here, minesweepers should have really good armour so they can take a lot of shots, but when it comes to defusing they should have extreme received accuracy, cos keeping them alive is kind of shitty

Maybe reduce cost and give 2nd sweep without vet.
Honestly if they get an armor buff they will just become cheap armoured scouts not sweepers.

They have pretty shitty sight radius already, an armor buff doesn't make them a more viable scout than a bike or a jeep which are (at least in the bikes case for sure) negligibly more expensive.

i quite often see them used for  suicide scouting but scouting none the less.

You can suicide scout with Jeeps/Bikes/Kettens and find more for your effort with the same kind of cost investment.

An armour/health increase wouldn't make them combat units, they're still 2 man squads with only 1 Grease Gun/MP40.

Soldier armour would likely go a long way to letting them do some actual mine sweeping, without them becoming annoyingly tanky by soaking tank shells (which is what a health increase would likely do if it was brought up to any meaningful level).

They also can't cap, so that isn't an issue either.

Derdbert has a fair point with this one.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.

That'd be 25 Engineer/Pioneer grade Grease Guns/MP40's, which'd be lost after 1 guy in the squad is dead (Minesweeper takes priority).

You'd wreck it with a pair of Riflemen or Volks. God forbid you bring an MG, or a tank.

Also, what they gonna do with those minesweepers if they miraculously survive? Cap? Yeah, perhaps not.

In perspective, you'd be throwing away 2000 MP 250 MU by doing a 25 pop callin of minesweepers... So I suppose you should just let them do that, the stupidity should cure itself eventually.

Minesweepers should be easy to kill. They go with a support. They aren't scouts. Now u guys want to make scouts out of them...

Soldier armour would still make them fairly easy to kill (2 man squad with 70 hp per man, even with soldier armour that isn't much), they just wouldn't vaporise upon contact with the enemy like they do now.

Unless first contact is with a tank. Then they'd still vaporise.

By definition, it's a game and in this game you have sth like detection radius. And because of this detection radius you don't have to send ur sweepers out in front. Just saying.

While I disagree with making any changes to sweepers, you are a little incorrect about how they are used Gary.

You should be sending the sweepers first to ensure it is safe for the rest of your units.

Like any good player would do, you should be using a unit with a higher detection radius to scout before sending any unit into harms way....... This is certainly going to slow your advance, but isn't that part of the objective when placing mines?

I'm quite sure a detection area the size of a minesweeper is not large enough to escort an attack force, and they'll most assuredly die when you use them like that. Nobody uses sweepers like you just discribed wolfie, it's impractical as hell.

Not to mention it's a helluva lot slower than the vehicle you'll be esccorting most of the time.

It also requires you to blob up and can't be used with anything faster than the squad movement.

Personally I dont care much for anti infantry mines, they do negible damage imho, it's vehicles that I keep away from mines.

hey gimpwolf, not to sound like a dick but, I know a lot more about the game than you in terms of what can be done to help balance and be abused. I was banned from balance for constant thread de-railment and unnecessary posts because I just post in the most recent thread lists unless im making a topic.

hey gimpwolf, not to sound like a dick but, I know a lot more about the game than you in terms of BLA BLA BLA BLA

1. You should be banned right now for abusing "the others".
2. Basicly you wanna change minesweepers. Okay... Give them a bonus detection, but now go ahead and "balance" SE company buffs : I mean -received detection. By making one thing different, you will make other things unbalanced. Not to say patch is comming every 3 months.
3. You know what's really deciding on respecting others opinion in balance disscusion don't you ? SKILL. I'm just sorry to say that, but it doesn't matter for how long you're here, but how good you really are.
4. I'm not saying that you shouldn't listen to the "bad" players, but some skilled veterans might have better point of view. For example : you make 1 thing OP. Really, really OP. Who's going to use it better ? A bad or a better player ?
