Operation Market Garden is another persistancy mod loosely based on Europe in Ruins.
It features Company building, Doctrines and Veterancy bonuses, Custom Map downloader and much much more!

If you have some spare time, head over to their forums at:
www.omgmod.com and check it out.

EIRRMod out!

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.

Do you remember what *this* launcher used to be like?

Or the rage at lagg spikes when our service provider decides to run every customer off 1 HDD?

If you havent, give it a try.

It crashes on me too, it's good looking with all those buttons and stuff but all the lag/crashes/incorrect logins/ghost games make it worse than old launcher.

It's more complex then the old launcher, handle nearly 3 times as much traffic and is still being actively developed.

I can't play Operation Market Garden... I try to go to "inspect the troops", to build my company and it doesn't work... Apparently this is because I use Internet Explorer... What kind of stupid crap is that? News flash, most Internet users still use IE and I'll be damned if I'm going to install Firefox just so I can EiR: Everything and the Unbalanced Kitchen Sink edition...

The main things I liked about OMG that EiR doesn't have are...

Mobile 17pndr but I don't play Brits anyway.
Multiple companies under the same account but you can do that yourself in EiR.
The halftrack loadups are cool but not necessary.

I like EiR more though because it is so much more done and has this sweet PP system!

Actually the halftrack load ups are extremely powerful during a meeting engagement. It is something that I would very much like to see here at EIR.

But on a side note I thought that OMG and EIR shared a .dll that both mods changed so you can only install one of the mods at a time? Can some one here give clarification on that?

Dont suppose you remember the old EIR set up. Its not really a  launcher its a game lobby. you have a serperate program that you put your battle number in and it launches. Simple.

Also the same, before reinforements. its not that confusing.

Vet things is a let down but its a lot of work for the coders.

Shouldnt anymore, coders fixed a lot of stuff, incorrect logins always happen with new players. But theres a nice little thing that tells you who has the wrong login name.

Its ranger armour, their hard to use.and are only effective with halftracks and in CQC.

OMG will have a similer idea with ATS/Doctrines/Resource bonuses. You spread your VPs(victory points among them. It will help to avoid generic companies as there will be a fair few options to spread your VPs across..

Halftracks are epic win.

I have both installed and no conflicts happen.....Mix between OMG and \EIR is the best way to go.
Also before you judge the new units, try them they can be niffty,Also if you have any ideas for new axis units theres a thread open to see if hey need some or if there is a gap for improvement.

One more thing, alot of games are now been broadcasted via Xfire so you can check out the fights as they happen

EDIT: Check the wiki for any info you need

ive actually tried playing a game in OMG several times, but every time i would get around to it i would just end up playing EIRR. plus with all the new units and no real descriptions on them it was confusing. with EIRR, i know what everything does for the most part. i really would like to try omg, its just, i barely had enough time to play EIRR as it was. i mostly wanted to see how all those different shermans worked in the armor company which i thought was really cool.

Except we wrote all of our own stuff...

I just want to say thank you to Luci for doing this. I hope all of the anger and what not that a few members had towards each other can be finally ended. EIRR members are welcome to our community just like anyone else.

And to address Brad's comment: Bonte had to recode everything due to the ToV patch, that is nearly done so we can move on to doctrines and vet.

@ Riki: Explanations of units can be found in the forums, and questions can be asked in the forums if your search shows up nothing.

@ the Firefox thing: The flash coding or php or w/e that we use won't work with IE 7. It just can't handle the advanced whatjamacallzits that we have in the launcher.

Actually, they (any web browser) should be able to handle anything; due to them all working on the same base code, it's just the way they interpret that is the difference. Flash and PHP will work in any browser regardless, due to the Flash being a self contained program and doesn't run off of the browsers software, and php being so ingrained into the internet 'code' that all browsers know what it does.

It is extremely good practice to have your website and other web based programs work with all browsers as it is unrealistic to expect and force your consumers to adopt to what you want them to. Doing this actually limits the amount of enjoyment potential consumers will get out of your product and as it has been show, results in a negative experience and the spread of negative word of mouth about your product. Taking the time to get it to work in all browsers will only result in a much more healthier product.

I really don't know cause I don't code it, but for w/e reason IE 7 just didn't work, the newest one may work, correction, just tested IE 8 works with the launcher.

Most IE users should have upgraded to that so the issue isn't that big, something with IE 7 didn't click with it.
