the fact that is has longer range than anything that can engage it should be enough tbh. Scout well and this thing is beastly.

Add Hetzer ambush and win. Jeez.

hmm ive never used the middle T4 on defensive, that just might be its calling.

it deals with anything that has m18 armor or less quite well, it just feels SO risky when you see jumbos and such on the field. You really want to just creep with this, and make sure you have your flanks covered. It's almost like a hummel in a sense, i think i just have it in the wrong company, but dont know if im adventurous enough to make a mid t4 defensive comp just to see if i profit.

I love how often i have said this and yet go on ignored but the T2 allready grants Stugs camo and turning at the same time.
Well that is unless someone actually listend to me for once but The t2 pretty much gives it hetzer ambush so when they changed it so you dont need the top t3 for turning cloak for the hetzer they "Accidentally" changed it so the stug got it too(the reason for "" is because leo said it was intentionall).

So, to make this unit better i would suggest improving it's accuracy, and make it's long range penetration at least 0.9.

Or lets NOT make a true 88 on wheels.

I think that it's better than a lot of you are making it out to be. It's no 88 on kettenkrad treads, but its a mobile fucking peice of 100 range AT goodness. Assuming it's incorperated into a normal axis company, it will have Panther/P4 (I use them, shhhh community) or even StuG support as well as copious handheld support. You have the ability to 'strong arm' enemy players. Think of it in a Blitz company. This thing makes a juicy target to rush with a few tanks. With it's 100 range, it can get off at least 2 shots before they make it into their own range, and if you have a pair of double shrecked storms lying in wait, you'll be able to wipe at least 2 tanks, and 3 if your team isn't sitting on it's thumbs. It also grants 88-like abilities to companies that have great offensive capabilities. So you can aggressively push up and then sit on your Nashorn to hold that territory. The allies have no cloaking units that can effectively sneak up on it, so as long as you keep a bike or two handy, you're golden. AFAIK artillery doesn't wtfcrit it (I'm not particularly privy to Marder armor and its modifiers or w.e) so even if a sniper runs in to spot for arty, you should be able to relocate.

I want to ensure we have a 100% decision on the process before we do the wipe.
If not, then I wipe, then someone gets something they shouldn't, then it gets abused, then the shit hits the fan and then I ban shab.

Go commandos, drop in Piat's, have them rush the Nashorn, the Nashorn runs away, and while it runs and the enemy is distracted by the Piat's, Charge in 2 BCMMG's, throw down AP rounds, and rip the Nashorn to shreads (2 are just enough to kill a locked down Marder that it fighting back btw). Other combinations can be used also - such as BCMMG and arty.

I always love using 2 BCMMG's running around enemy lines to go after Hummel's or Marder's, they can just easily tear through their armour with AP rounds, then run away. Also, if they end up not having any of those units you can still use them to keep back infantry, and guard against Storms (specially if you have suppressive fire).

In the meantime, your opponent is sitting on his balls and doing nothing...

Not exactly theory crafting Tongue it works for dealing with Marder's and Hummel's, so should work with Nashorn's. Just need to distract whatever is guarding it with what seems like a bigger threat (people more scared of Piat's than BCMMG's).

It's not likely that a team will have a single marder/nashorn and no other AT defending it.

doubt you can kill it with 2 bcmmgs ap rounds. you cant even deal much damage to a marder.

they are effective vs the halftracks but thats all.

Bren MMG's fire in 4-5 second bursts with 3-4 second breaks in between at a RoF of 8 rounds per second.

Optimistically speaking (Read: You've timed it to an absolute tee), you'll get 3 5 second bursts during the 20 second time frame of AP rounds.

That's 120 rounds put out in the 20 second duration, assuming you spend the entire time firing whenever possible. Each round will do 3.5 damage making for a maximum potential damage of 420.

However, Bren MMG accuracy is pretty poor. Assuming we are close range with 0.35 accuracy, we'll be doing 147 damage on average throughout the duration of AP rounds to a Marder. If it's long range with 0.15 accuracy, we'll be doing an average of 63 damage.

The Nashorn has 400 health. This means that if we are speaking on averages, you'll need 3 Bren MMG's putting atleast 75% of their AP time into the Nashorn to kill it whilst taking into account averages. To do it with 2 Bren MMG's, you'd need exceptional luck.

If you let 3 Bren MMG's chase down a Nashorn... It pretty much deserves to die. You'll also have around 12 seconds to react, only taking into account the time it would take for the 3 Bren MMG's to destroy the Nashorn. If we speak realistically, there will be more like 20-25 seconds when travel and micro time is taken into account as well as combat time.

Essentially, you'd deserve it if somebody rushed you with 3 Bren MMG's and pulled it off, and it'd be one of the more complex ways of going about doing it when you could just use a Stuart or two.

If the Marder had taken even a sneeze of damage, it'd be possible.

If the Hummel had been damaged some, it'd be possible.

But the bottom line is, there are better ways to do it. Too much can fuck up when using MMG's due to their directional nature and slow turning rate on the spot. Getting caught by enemy support is certain death.

Tbf, it relies too much on your opponent being an idiot rather than having a sound strategy in mind. Situations where the MMG's would do the task soundly are also situations where other units could do the task then proceed to be effective field units afterwards.

Granted, it isn't much fuel investment, but it's 2-3 squads worth of MP down the toilet which could have been capping, recrewing or holding back other inf if it goes pear shaped.
